Valve Software sends along a new trailer for Half-Life 2: Episode Two, showing nearly two minutes of high-def footage from the game. Episode Two will be coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 early 2007.

There was a time that I never compared PC gaming to COnsole, simply cause I loved playing games on PC and GFX looked better. But nowadays the prices of GFX cards have gone so much higher that I'm thinking of buying XBOX 360 or PS3 to PLay my favourite games such as this one. Do you agree with me?

I really hope the age of screenshots is finally dead. When you're pitching a new game and all you can do is show gaming sites a few screenshots every now and then, you really don't have much to show. Everyone has broadband and with places like YouTube, video is more accessible on the internet than it ever has been.

Trailers should really be the standard from now on.

This trailer is interesting because a lot of it seems to be presented from the point of view of a cinematic third-person camera. That is, up until this point all of every game has been seen from Gordon's perspective. The only exception that comes to mind is at the beginning of Episode One; I'm pretty sure that there was a scene involving the G-man and the Vortigaunts that wasn't from Gordon's point of view. So maybe they'll be doing more of this in the future. I rather like having everything conveyed through what Gordon sees, so I'm not sure if I like the change.

Is that self-shadowing at the beginning (gman->alyx but also alyx->alyx)? I'm guessing its not going in the gameplay for performance reasons, but its still pretty impressive they managed to squeeze it out of the engine.

Is it just me, or does it look like they're doing real shadows now. In HL2 the shadows all went in the same direction, bit I'm not sure that's still the case. It's especially apparent when the flashlight goes on.

Anyone know if they've mentioned anything about changes to the lighting system?

All of the engine upgrades look really good, I think where EP1 had non-stop action, this episode will have a bit less but with more plot details being played out. I'm fine with either since everything they do owns my face.
