S3TC Quake3 Levels

When I run 3dMark2000 and look under the supported features list for my Annihilator Pro DDR Geforce card it lists S3TC as supported. Has anyone tried d/l\'ing the new levels and the updated VII q3.exe and seeing if the new levels work? Maybe 3DMark just gets DXTC and S3TC confused?

Just in case anyone missed it....here\'s how you can turn on the T&L on your Viper ii card...(from S3Planet):.... it\'s possible to turn on T&L for OpenGL. Note, however, that this is still experimental, and therefore ymmv. If you want the best compatibility, leave it turned off (as is the default).
It can be enabled by adding the string entry \"ICDHWTL\" with value \"ON\" (no quotes!) to the HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\\Display\\Settings registry key. Treemark is shows the most benefit of this.
I\'ll say it again: this is still experimental, and better T&L support should be available in the upcoming (major) driver release.

Pretty sad when a video card company releases PROPRIETARY MAPS. What\'s next -- certain weapons just for certain card owners? Well, it\'s S3, so about 50 peeps in all will be playing these maps, which is a pity since there\'s a new one by Ztn in there. Someone will ultimately convert the textures and then they\'ll be worth downloading...but, in the meantime, at 20 megs for a single map, and the pleasure of hand-converting everything, well, no thanks. Piss off with your ELITIST LAME ASS MARKETING STRATEGY, S3. :)

nd a geFORCE could take the levels just fine I bet. Back when there were S3 levels for Q2 the levels were run on Voodoo 2 cards and choked...but ran fine on TNT 2 cards.

I bought a Viper II Saturday...and it don\'t work! Maybe it\'s my mobo (Abit BH6) or the fact that I have Win95 and DirectX drivers...but it won\'t run OpenGL games. I wouldn\'t have bought the thing except I bought a 110 dollar TNT2 because it looked like the real McCoy on the box...but I opened it up and found that it was a TNT2 M64...dissapointed I decided to take the damn thing back and get a refund. I was informed (at babbages) that they don\'t give refunds anymore (which I assumed they did because I got a refund on the geForce a month before because it didn\'t work with my BH6 very well; the last guy who brought that same card back before me also couldn\'t get it to work on his...but that\'s another story) and that I could exchange it for another product; so I went back aiming to get a TNT2Ultra...but saw the S2k for 20 dollars more...well I decided to get it (they\'ll eventually have T&L after all); and when I got it in my computer on Sunday; it didn\'t work with openGL games (Q3A had the screen covered with like 7 solid colors and static and stuff)...so I got the new drivers and....Q3A just crashed before the id logo appeared (it would get up the Rockface screen...pause...and...die). I decided I\'d take it back...but I\'m a college student without a car; and I left the reciept at home (where I was for the weekend); so I\'m waiting until tommorow and hoping that they\'ll let me return the bloody godamndable thing for a TNT2Ultra (I\'ll even let them keep the 20 dollar difference...it\'s better than shoving 200 bucks up an rathole). Does anybody know if babbages will let me exchange my exchange my lovely exchanged card for a new one?
