Microsoft Announces Return Of The IntelliMouse

Also announced by Microsoft today is the return of the IntelliMouse. According to Microsoft, IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 is being reintroduced "in response to the demand from PC gamers worldwide". It will be available this September (going by the image on the Microsoft website) or October (going by the official press release) for $39.95.

There are tons of them at my local ComUSA. I tried one and its was nice enough but the feel was a little too long and the wheel up/down action sucked. I also just tried the Habu (Razer mouse hardware in IntelMouse shell) and it was seemed to be pretty slick.

I always thought that this mouse was so popular because at the time, there was nothing better, and CS was really getting popular and a bigger mouse is typically better for that type of shooter, imo. People got so used to it they can't stand using anything else =) But like the above poster, Copperhead ftw.

Wow, I remember when the Intellimouse 1.0 came out, it was $99...and it would crap out in two years. We still got a few 3.0's in the house, although I prefer my MX500.

It is a great mouse. Have one for 3 years and no failures until now. EVen though logitech mice may be better feature based I find MS mouse extremely reliable and can stand more abuse.
