Steam To Add PopCap Titles

For those of you who have somehow managed to miss out on games like Bejeweled, Feeding Frenzy or Zuma so far, Valve sends along a press release announcing that PopCap Games titles will be coming to Steam soon. Seventeen PopCap games will be available August 30, with a trial version available for all of them.

When STEAM first came out, I remember thinking the only way they would succeed is if they were able to get as many games as possible... it sure seems like they're doing that pretty well.

I like the variety in the Steam games, but other than Darwinia and SIN, none of the non-Valve games have interested me at all. Red Orchestra looks cool, but the extreme realism isn't my thing. The other games just look iffy or average at best.

Seems like a weird match to me. I've liked that Steam has differed itself from the 4 bzillion other downloadable game portals by having a distinct flavor and a rarely-deviated-from focus on original content. I guess with the nice way things like Zuma are doing on Live Arcade, the drool from Valve's marketing people got too deep and they had no choice but to do it.

Zuma on the PC?

With steam I've been able to take full games like CS and use them on my other computers and even download them on my friends but only one person can be on the account at any time so you can't have two people playing the game together.

What would be cool is if they would allow you to associate already purchased PopCap games with your Steam account.

My wife has bought like 3-4 games via PopCap and loves them - but when we do a reformat or move her to a new PC, it's not clear (from her anyway) how, if at all, the games are portable. I'm sure they are but the whole "hey download my game" thing Steam is pretty good at.

I think popcap are really amazing at what they do. I've been a fan since the insaniquarium. They seem to understand what makes a game addictive.
