NWN2, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic LE Plans
by Maarten Goldstein, Aug 15, 2006 4:04am PDTThanks to RPGDot for word that Gamestop is carrying a Limited Edition Neverwinter Nights 2 release, while Amazon.com mentions a Dark Messiah of Might & Magic Limited Edition release. The NWN2 LE will come with a number of in-game extras (in addition to things like an art book) including a new feat, two special items and access to a unique weapon. The Dark Messiah LE will include 1 extra character skin for multiplayer, 4 extra singleplayer weapons, and a soundtrack CD among other things.

The trend of adding in-game stuff for an extra $10 is a crock of shit. The cloth map is sweet however, it reminds me of the one I got with Ultima 7.
Put in more real life items in the collectors edition and I will gladly shell out the extra cash. Maybe bundle an actual D&D Players Guide, or a novel with some backstory on the game area. Even a bag of runes (ala Ultima Underworld). Noone cares about soundtracks, you can rip that shit fromt he game files. Art books are lame, you can see all the damn art in the editor/game. Put in something with collecting, not a stupid in-game weapon or something someone will mod in anyways.

After the most recent steam poll, over 90% of the players have a DVD, why the hell do game sstill come on CD!?!

The HOMM LE didn't have a soundtrack CD, it had the soundtrack in DVD-video format. Meaning if you wanted to hear it, you had to use a DVD player (or software) or go through the hassle of ripping it.
