  • OK, first of all LINUX, which IS NOT UNIX, came out in \'91 or \'92, so it hasn\'t \"been around forever\", it is not like OS/2 which tried to be a commercial product and failed horribly due to IBM\'s ridiculously poor marketing. Linux has been far more successful, just look at all the IPO shit that went down last year.

However, Linux is not yet ready for primetime, while windows is looking better than ever (2000 looks like THE SHIT). Linux is fast, small, stable, and secure, but ... say it with me.... \"it\'s not user friendly enough.\" And if the Linux geeks have their way, it never will be, and windows will then always be the market leader, because, quite honestly, people don\'t want their computers to make them feel stupid, they want to be able to plug\'n\'play and just use software OOTB, without uncompressing or futzing around with a command line.

The best Window managers in Linux fall way short of the usability of windows. I think people will give up on linux because it couldn\'t deliver. I think people just need to give it some time.

Anyway, that was my rant for the morning. : )
