I like the artistic direction and scenario details Chris Taylor imparts on his games, but I'm hoping unit upgrades mean more than a reason to balance hit point drain. In DS1 the Swamp Hag (or Swamp Witch) was impressive because she could warp in helpers and then warp herself out of danger; that made her a challenging opponent. Big bad thumpers heavy with hit points get repetitive when they don't do anything but feel like their counterparts did at level 1.
So far, the Cybrans are identical to the UEF guys...nothing really special. I know they have only shown us a mere tidbit, but the stuff they are showing off, at least in regards to the units, isn't too crazy or unique.
Still hopeful.
