Either way, I'm going to read the interview just because Quake 1 was such a momentous game.

Quake really did fluke alot of its sucess in terms of gameplay. The instant fast switching weapons due to lack of time to put in animations, the weapons - although unbalanced, are just awesome, the rocketjumping, air physics.. the list goes on.
Zoid should also be credited for his work on QuakeWorld, he achieved so much.. people should put him almost on par with Romeo, JC with regard to QW's success.

It's amazing what a jumbled mess the development of Quake was. If not for Quakeworld and the QuakeC I wonder if people would remember quake so fondly.
