All the footage shown in these trailers was created using Source. Some of the effects, namely depth of field and motion blur, were applied via post-processing features built into the Source engine technology.

This, along with the awesome looking characters in TF2 - Valve can pretty much have my credit card on auto-debit. Can't wait for the TF2 trailer.

Playing through ND makes this trailer all the more exciting. You're already doing some pretty cool stuff in that game, but Portal really takes it up quite a few notches in terms of puzzle complexity and intensity.

CONSIPIRACY!? I think not.
I jacked this from a comment at EvilAvatar.

First physics based gameplay, now gravity based gameplay.
It's so weird how you can "fall" down into a portal, and if the exit is pointing upward somewhere else it'll shoot you upward into that area until you lose momentum (the first slide in the middle of the trailer where it runs through all the options).
That is fucking cool.

On a related note, does anyone know if they plan on combining all the episodes together? I mean, say I'm playing E1 and I beat it, will it just roll over to E2 or will I have to close E1 and startup E2? Have they talked about this? Just a curious question I had. I guess it isn't a big deal. I would rather have the "default config" feature I previously proposed here: http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=12243961

And that the portal gun and sentryguns look very combine?
Could this be a new gun in Ep3 (or even 2?) Imagine firing a portal at a striders feet and having it topple over, or lobbing some portals up and tossing grens through to clear out an area.
Level design could be a bit of a headache though, as you could get literally anywhere you could see.

But I'm already bored with Episode 1 because all I've got so far is the fucking gravity gun. I play First Person Shooters to, you know...shoot shit. (For a follow-up title like HL2:E1 it annoys me greatly that I don't have any of the known arsenal available to me.) So, I doubt I'll play Portal.
Plus I suck at jump puzzles.

IMO any blame-assigning is silly, since cross-pollination between games is good.
