24Over at FileShack you can now download Prey server binaries for Linux, allowing you to run a dedicated server for the game provided you own a copy. Dedicated server files for Windows are being worked on according to the story on the 3D Realms website.

It boggles the mind that, in this day and age, a company would release a game with a multiplayer component that requires the disc in the drive for a dedicated server.
Of course, it still boggles my mind that companies refuse to release standalone dedicated servers (you know, like the popular games have - Half-Life/Battlefield being the two most noteworthy).
Developers take note - if you want your game to have legs in a multiplayer environment, you have to NAIL the release. If there's not enough decent servers, people will give up - and never come back.
