1As noted in this forum post, a new beta release of the upcoming Battlefield 2 v1.4 patch is now available. There are more bug fixes, tweaks to the Road to Jalalabad map and a few new features for the No Vehicles option.

2. Yes you do need to make a backup copy of your 1.3 install (if you don't know how then don't even download the beta)
