  • Well I would have put this in reply to http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=12474891 but probably no one would notice... so

After reinstalling XP, it decides to to a chkdsk /f on my D: partition before booting up and while its fixing stuff it totally removes the path information for 15 GB worth of files, files from all over my system.

There's this found.000 folder and in it are like 188 folders going from dir0000.chk to dir0188.chk and then some .chk files that are like file0000.chk and on. In the folders are files that are from pretty much anywhere in my stored data and are totally in a jumbled mess--most of it would require painful reinstallations and resortting for stuff like pics and MP3s.

So, is there some way that chkdsk recorded the directory paths and stored that somewhere or can restore it for me? If not, I have a long night
