Now, why didn't they do this with CS? Why would they HAVE to? It's the #1 action game online (according to their data.) They already gave it away with HL2 so it's an apples/oranges thing. It makes sense they would prop their other solid MP game up if there is room for growth.

I don't think these free weekends have much to do with sales, but then again, I don't know either.
Either way, if you don't have the game, try out the new content this weekend. I know a lot of people are having a blast with it.

I think DOD:S got a little screwed over since initially owning it wasn't part of otherwise popular products (i.e., people got CSS and HL2DM just for owning HL2, people had to buy the Gold Steam package or buy it separately to get DOD:S) and so they do things like this to try and stunt its growth. Couple that with the WW2 overload...
