Well this was a pretty damn good demo! Having never played a Settlers game before but (but had a strong Civ, Age of Empires background) it wasn't hard to learn. Definetly fun!

Does it simply de-evolve into a conquest game or is it more about expansion and building your tribe?

  In order to expand you need to conquer the towers of the other people but other than that there's no comb... : maxmc

There are so many decent old skool games out there, companies could be making a killing on...

Example... SystemShock 1.. Re-do this with a new engine.. instant hit...
Xcom:UFO Defense.. re-do this with new engine.. instant hit...

And its not like it would be difficult to re-create the game...
The initial concept/rules/gameplay .. its all already there...

You just need to plop a few programers down and tell em to re-create this game....

(Granted Dune2000 didn't go over so well.. but it was a shitty upgrade)
