Mythic to Help Out on Ultima Online

Now that Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online developer Mythic Entertainment is under the same EA corporate roof as the Ultima franchise, it appears that the Mythic team will be contributing in some way to the long running MMO Ultima Online. In what capacity Mythic will be lending its services is unclear. The front page of UO.com reads:

These are exciting days for MMORPG fans here at EA. With the acquisition of Mythic, the UO team will be working with the creative folks who brought us Dark Age of Camelot and are hard at work on the spectacular-looking Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. IÂ’m thrilled that the UO team and Mythic will work together to forge BritanniaÂ’s future.

There is much to talk about with our new partners, and it will take some time to review and finalize our plans. Because we need to take that time, we are postponing the announcement that we were going to make this week. The in-game fiction cycle will take a break for a bit and will return soon.

Mythic representatives were not available for comment as of press time.

  • Uo attempted a rebranding in China because the system specs are so low. It met pretty minimal success, but has been able to remain break even or profitable. When the last guys from the Uxo team quit after being forced to move to CA over 50%t of UOs accounts where paid inactive, or in Japan/Asia.

And the 2 UOs you guys know about that got canceled are nothing, they have axed at least 5 overhauls that I know of. As well as 2 attempts at making single player games. (There where various attempts at taking the 4-6 million worth of artwork and environment work in UXO and making a single player game, or adding it into a new UO client)
