So after fighting it for quite a while I finally caved in and got Battlestar Galactica on Netflix. I saw part of an episode once by accident and I wasnt impressed. Given that I dont really care for Star Trek stuff I figured I wasnt missing out. Mistake... it's pretty darn cool and the production value is shockingly good. I recommend it. Do it.

  • Silent Wolf's Superman Returns Review:

    -NO SPOILERS-

Superman Returns is a wonderful homage to the Richard Donner films. On that level the movie works magically, their are an insane amount of references, and nuances of those movies (which I LOVE) and the filmmakers went out of their way to bring out some of the finner points of those movies. As an individual movie, especially one that is essentially a relaunch of the series, it does not work as well.

While I appreciated the nostolgia, Bryan Singer seems to have made that feeling too large apart of the backbone of the movie. Instead of crafting something new, fresh, and exciting, he relies on the groundwork of the previous films. While I can't fault him for continuity, I can't say I thought it was the best decision as the story suffers at times due to this. Overal story arch aside, the charcters are represented fantastically. Superman is super awesome, lois lane is drop dead gorgeous and for the first time is portrayed very realistically and very honest. It's easy to get sucked into the movie because of the strong acting from both of those leads, of course spacey is no slouch either, and I did enjoy his presence, despite the fact that this is one area where the nostolgia factor was overplayed.

The action was moving, and by far some of the best superhero action I have ever seen. For me, it blew away every other superhero movie's action scenes. The entire movie felt like a living comic book and although that was it's greatest strength, it also suffered from the same weakness as their was too much fluff at times, and the some scenes were inplausiable. Still, be that as it may, brian singer had ALOT riding on his shoulders in this movie, and he filmed it like a pro, I LOVED the movie but it was not flawless. The orginal superman movie had more heart, but this one was in the right place.

It's going to be one of those movies that people will talk about for a while I believe, for various reasons, which of course makes it a great time to be a superman fan :)

"The new Build 5456 of Windows Vista, x86 and x64 versions, has been made available to a limited number of beta testers. This is the first build in the RC1 (Release Candidate 1) release process and is designed to help bridge the gap between the Beta 2 Build 5384 and RC1 which is expected to be released to the public later this summer.

Microsoft fixed many of the bugs reported from the recent Beta 2 release, and has made some interesting additions to this build. Microsoft has been listening to our feedback, and testers report some of the changes in this build include: less obtrusive UAC behavior, the return of List View in Explorer, and in-place upgrade of Vista from the Beta 2 release is now supported.
