Shooters That Need Sequels
by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 15, 2006 7:56am PDTFiringSquad has this article up, taking a look at first person shooters that should (in Jcal's mind) get sequels. Games listed include Alien vs Predator, Soldier of Fortune, Hexen & Heretic, Shogo and Rise of the Triad. What are some of your favorite games (shooters or otherwise) that you wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to?

No more these fps games where you are nothing more than a train with a gun.

It'd be tricky to do though...the original managed to pull off a fun old-school scifi cheesiness that worked because of the graphics...I don't know if it'd be as do-able with modern graphics...but I could sorta see how they might pull it off.

I loved both Heavy Gear ! and II, Heavy Gear III was on the way but was canceled :( that was a very depressing day for me.
Please don't say I was the only one who enjoyed that series, or played that series for that matter...

Another Max Payne game would rock, but as Remedy can't do it, I'd rather just enjoy the great memories of the first two. I don't trust anyone else to do it right.
Also, another Operative game is needed, but it shouldn't be called NOLF3. I didn't even think NOLF2 should have been named that way. The Operative in A Spy in H.A.R.M's Way would have been much better.

I want to be Barney again, I want to know what Barney does leading up to the Combine. I want to know how he infiltrated the Combine in order to get Freeman the help he needed. Would it not be fucking freaky to play as Barney then throw Freeman the Crowbar (as a mission objective ect) I think that would be like an out of body expierince. Since you are always the Freeman.
We can see Barney trying to mix in by giving the beat down on the citizens of City 17. We can see him trying to drive a Combine truck, or maybe an airship.
VALVe are you LISTENING?? :)

Tribes 3 (made by the Dynamix/Garage Games guys)
Undying 2
A *real* Deus Ex 2
Also, Hexen was the sequel to Heretic. The series went Heretic, Hexen, Hexen 2, Heretic 2. Remember when Hexen 2 came out and Romero was going on about how it was supposed to be called Hexacomb or something?
