  • you know how mod makers perpetually try to recreate older games in new engines, and are then shut down by the publishers for copyright reasons?

    what if a developer did a quick remake itself?

    I'm thinking an id Software remake of Quake 1. wouldn't that be awesome? they could use the same gameplay mechanics, the same maps, and so forth, just bring it into the ET: Quake Wars engine with upgraded textures (assuming the originals are still sitting around somewhere) and models. they could stick to the deathmatch and Threewave CTF components if they had to save time. put it online as a direct download for $5-10 and watch people snap it up.

    I know I'd buy it!

    and no, Quake 3 Arena doesn't count as a remake
