So I managed to get a DS Lite tonight from Circuit City, but they were sold out of Brain Age. I managed to get a rain check, but right now I've got a shiny new DS Lite and no games for it :(

Can you guys recommend any good places to buy games? I wanted to get Advance Wars DS but it was $35?!?! That seems a bit high to me.

Linux question:

How do you find a file, you dont know its name but you know its extension. For example Im looking for some files with the extension .slf but do not know what directory they are in.

Locate will work if I know part of its name but if I try to do a locate *.slf nothing happens.

This is sad.

Because I have an exam that the rules allow us to take a single page of typed notes as a "cheat sheet", I have started typing my lecture notes on pages with 0.15" margins and single-spaced Arial Narrow font size 4 (yes, this is allowed, we've explicitly asked the prof).

My laptop's resolution is 1400x1050. Font size 4 is insanely tiny.

I went to a preview screening of NACHO LIBRE today.

Now, I really like Napoleon Dynamite and this one is very similar but I'd say it's even funnier. This is pretty much the role Jack Black was born to play and some of the stuff is so over the top, hysterically funny.

Do not miss this one, it's truly one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

How do I do accurate string comparisons between them (with potential for different number of digits)?

85 returns as greater than 100 because 8 > 1, but 085 < 100 correctly.
What's the function? What's the trick?

I miss PHP :(

End of an Era. WoW opened up transfers from Stormreaver to Korgath and a lot of us split. Fortunatly my current guild Dread took the transfer too.

If you made the move I'll see you around.

To all the GCRA that didn't move, I'll miss yah. I think Str8Dog is goulg to hold the GCR GM, if we can ever get online at the same time for me to transfer it.

you know how mod makers perpetually try to recreate older games in new engines, and are then shut down by the publishers for copyright reasons?

what if a developer did a quick remake itself?

I'm thinking an id Software remake of Quake 1. wouldn't that be awesome? they could use the same gameplay mechanics, the same maps, and so forth, just bring it into the ET: Quake Wars engine with upgraded textures (assuming the originals are still sitting around somewhere) and models. they could stick to the deathmatch and Threewave CTF components if they had to save time. put it online as a direct download for $5-10 and watch people snap it up.

I know I'd buy it!

and no, Quake 3 Arena doesn't count as a remake

Worst gaming sequel?

For me it has to be Deus Ex 2.

god, what a POS. I put the OG Deus Ex up there with Half-Life. One of the best games ever made. The sequel almost made me cry.

Cell Phone Gods

I've got an older Sony-Ericsson phone which is dying on me yet I am stuck with a good month-to-month AT&T Wireless (now Cingular) contract that I don't want to switch. I've seen alot of phones on Ebay and elsewhere that are listed as "Unlocked" which from what I gather can be used on any service. So my question to you is this. Could I say buy a RAZR v3 that is unlocked and just plug my SIM into it and it would work fine or do I still need to go through the provider to get the phone to work?
