AMD Kills Off Several Athlon CPUs

Tech Report has a story about AMD's plans for some of its older Athlon CPUs. Athlon 64 X2 4800+, 4400+, and 4000+ for Socket AM2 and model 4400+ for Socket 939 chips will be retired soon, as will 4000+, 3700+, 3200+, and 3000+ single core chips. Several Sempron CPUs will be discontinued as well.

    Im starting too feel that my once high end machine is nothing more than an adverage computer now... with a fast video card.

      hah me too, my 1 year old 3800+ single core is already beyond obsolete, but with a x1900 my computer still kicks ass. time to look for some deals on a 4800+ X2

        A 3800+ is hardly obsolete. It may not be the shiniest new thing anymore, but that's not the same thing.
