Battlefield 2142 Beta Plans

According to fansite BF2142.com, DICE is planning on an open beta test for Battlefield 2142, the upcoming multiplayer shooter sequel. This beta will supposedly hit some time early August. A traditional demo will be released closer to release of the full version.

This is really great news for EA since this time it will squash out most of the bugs before its retail release. I am also happy the engine is the same as BF2's because that means I don't have to shell out a another $2000 grand for another computer, BLAH.

Wtf? Public beta test already? BF2 hasn't been out a year, and they're releasing a sequel a year later. I guess EA treats all its games like the EA Sports games.

Will they beta how to keep nobs from playing the game? You know the tools who are absolutely useless and can't think about going to another point but all zerg the same one over and over? Or the douchebag commanders who are a step up from useless grunts who can't do anything? Or the moronic server admins who have servers setup with scripts to bitch at you if you tell someone "shit sorry" as it's "bad language" in a game where the objective is to blow the crap out of the other person? Will it also weed out the cheats finally? ones such as you've put 9 shots into the guy with a higher powered weapon yet they dive to the ground and 1 hit you with a lower powered one?

A public beta? Fantastic. This is certainly a welcome change of direction. Its easy to shit all over EA and rightfully so, but this is a a positive step as far as shaking the shovelware image.
