Intel Price Cuts Coming

According to this Bloomberg story, Intel has told several motherboard manufacters that it will be cutting prices on its Pentium CPUs in an effort to regain market share lost to AMD. Prices will be cut by as much as 60%.

This is going to be an interesting time for tech buyers.

I'm waiting for AMD to undercut intel and then go for an X2 chip in the Fall and then eventually upgrade in the next 2-3 years to a quad core CPU.

When Japanese/Chinese companies used to do this the tech companies here whined and called it dumping and unfair trade practices, but I guess it's okay for Intel to do it.

Conroe is an awesomely performing chip, but Intel won't be able to ship the quantities it wants to for a while from what I've read. Oh well, I'm waiting till this fall/winter before I upgrade. Gonna wait for Vista and DX10 cards.
