SOE StationAccess Price Increases

According to an update to Sony's Station.com website, the StationAccess subscription price has gone up. The all-inclusive MMORPG subscription (which allows you to play EverQuest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, The Matrix Online, etc) was $21.99 a month before, it is now $24.99. Thanks FiringSquad.

It is sad...I think if they lowered the price to around $20 and didn't milk their customers with so many expansions, they'd have a big success.

As it is, I'm not going to buy three expansion and three adventure packs as well as the original game to start playing EQII. Same with SWG.

Planetside is more reasonable, but not worth it alone for the monthly.

but I don't see why anyone would need a subscription to more than one MMO at the time, no matter if 25 bucks is still a good deal compared to 60 (for 4 MMOs eg.), considering they're all huge timesinks where you better not want to play/do anything else in your spare time, and if people wanna switch their MMO every two months they shouldn't be playing that "genre" at all IMOTBH...

The more I think about this the more pissed I get at the folks playing these MMORPGS..how come there isn't an outcry? Has SOE come out and stated why they needed to increase the monthly rate? Is there an actual good reason to increase the monthly rate? I mean is there a new game coming out that I wasn't aware of, or new servers or something? Or is this just a money grab on SOE's part. $3 may not sound like much, but spread over millions across their base, that's a lot. Combined with $8 'mini expansions', I can't believe a developer would so brashly milk their fanbase so much.

BWahahaha. That's SOE's way though..instead of lowering the cost so more people will play their floundering online games, they increase the cost because they know the 'hardcore' players are too addicted to do anything about it.
