Anyone miss me? Yeah so I've been away dealing with all kinds of that serious real life stuff but I figure it's about time to hop back in the saddle or something. A few of you should be getting emails etc on random stuff as Maarten and I work on some much needed maintenance. So ANYWAYS try these on for size:

- Celebrities like games - Google likes net neutrality - The PDF battle - Wacky new LCD tech - What Hollywood could learn from games - Time to rethink the search for life - Harvard likes cloning
Lastly, your PC is the new DVD format battleground!

  • I was just reading an article on Time magazine on my way to work about the ethnic conflict in the Kayt Islands in Sri Lanka. I know it's extremely naive of me to sit here where I vent about my supposedly world-shattering girl problems and make an exhibit the fruitlessness of my life and regret about choices I've made, only to go about and openly wonder why and how ethnic warfare still happens in the world--ethnic conflicts leading to guerilla warfare, children warfare and conditioning, civilian murders, suicide bombing, demigods-worship, etc. etc.

Excuse me while I be extremely naive and stupid. How does ethnic warfare still happen? How and why does ethnic conflict escalate to such bigger-than-life proportions?

I refuse to believe people are stupid enough to believe these leaders are fighting for anything more than the power to govern completely a little kingdom of their own, like a child fighting for his own room, through the most despicable ways. In the end, just so they can fuck a different woman every day.

Maybe people are not that stupid, and perhaps one daughter as a concubine is preferable to one daughter dead, like the three before her. I don't know.

It's not like ethnic warfare is particular to one geographic reagion. Even more so, the amount and extent of ugliness happening in the world all at the same time as "now" blows my mind.

Anyone remember the name of that movie, a character study into a female Sri Lankan suicide bomber? (Acted out.) Supposedly beautiful and tragic. Never got a chance to see it. <-- (my feeble attempt at connecting that world to mine. That sounds so shamelessly ignorant, doesn't it? After all live in the same world.)
