so i get a email from safeway and they are offering me my very own store up near oakland ca area. the job offer is close to 98,000 dollars a year for being a store director. I'm really shocked because i have not been in retail/grocery for close to 3 years now. My wife comes back from mexico this weekend. I have no idea why they want me. i put an application over 2 years ago just see what would happen.

I activated a 14 day trial code, but the full client that I downloaded won't patch. Apparently it's version 3903, even though the exe I installed it from says 3913. And there doesn't appear to be a manual patch for 3903 to 3913.
Any ideas?

I have been using offline files and folders but Windows XP has a limit of how many files it can store offline. It just needs to be able to sync a network share to the local hard drive and only grab the files when they change. Free would be ideal.

I am tired of ink jet printers drying up if you don't use them much and then paying too much for ink when they run out. I don't even use color much.
Is it a worthy purchase for home use? Toner costs $59.

Why didn't any Logitech 880 owners tell me there is a known issue with these fuckers? I have one coming in from Dell in a few days but I snagged one at Ultimate Electronics for the time being. I figured since it was an open item to begin with, it would be even easier to return. Well Karma found me and found this remote to be one that doesn't charge. I've done some reading and I've discovered this is something that happens quite a bit with these fuckers. Why didn't anyone warn me? Bastards.
COX oh Cox. They didn't include an extra coax cable nor did they include a spliter in our new hardware package. Oh yes, I specifically asked the guy if it was included as I stood there in front of him. I was assured it was! Yet ... not. $30 at radio shack took care of that issue, that fuck. Why do people working at customer service pull that shit? Why? Now that I have it working, I find I have extra channels (including ESPN) but I don't have channels I was supposed to have (inHD). Even though I do have ESPN ... I don't have ESPN HD. Fuckers.
I love the current drama going around the Shack right now. I mean, it is nothing major (except My Docs passing from food poisoning. She was cool if you knew her outside of CS:S). However, it is just fun stuff and I dig it. The last few days I have really fallen behind my 17 post average, but there have been some good reads (doing things like this may save me on PRL but it kills my ego meter). Im glad ot see that many shackers are getting together for Shackmeats when it looks like Quakecon is no longer (how dare I accuse them of dicking around!).
Finally and most importantly, what are some alternatives to Windows MCE? I am running into all kinds of problems with Windows MCE. Booting w/o a monitor on is fucking up the resolution. Using remote desktop is fucking up the resolution. I used a registry hack to get it to start up normally but I can't get it to play .mkv files nor anything that isn't a .wmv file. It completely chokes on my songs directory. I am willing to try anything so long as it 1) Can read SMB shares and store the password for said shares 2) Can be accessed remotely 3) plays anything I throw at it 4) Has a good interface and 5) Works with my Cyberlink USB IR receiver so I can use my Harmony to navigate.
I don't think it is fair that there is a guy on late night doing infomercials selling a pill that helps your ... This guy gets on TV and talks about things I can't talk about. Can the mods find out who he is and ban him from here? Because if I see him again, I don't know how I won't be able to comment on his ...

Excuse me while I be extremely naive and stupid. How does ethnic warfare still happen? How and why does ethnic conflict escalate to such bigger-than-life proportions?
I refuse to believe people are stupid enough to believe these leaders are fighting for anything more than the power to govern completely a little kingdom of their own, like a child fighting for his own room, through the most despicable ways. In the end, just so they can fuck a different woman every day.
Maybe people are not that stupid, and perhaps one daughter as a concubine is preferable to one daughter dead, like the three before her. I don't know.
It's not like ethnic warfare is particular to one geographic reagion. Even more so, the amount and extent of ugliness happening in the world all at the same time as "now" blows my mind.
Anyone remember the name of that movie, a character study into a female Sri Lankan suicide bomber? (Acted out.) Supposedly beautiful and tragic. Never got a chance to see it. <-- (my feeble attempt at connecting that world to mine. That sounds so shamelessly ignorant, doesn't it? After all live in the same world.)

I've been mentioning this show a lot recently. It's an awesome aussie show that's similar to say... Whose Line Is It Anyway. Except they open a door, and stumble into a scene they know nothing about, and have to bluff their way out of the situation. It's very cool.
They had their season finale last night and it was awesome. It's also available for download!

So, i got an engineering job offer, and i'm not quite sure what to do with it. I'm fresh out of college with a double degree in Education and Chemical Engineering.
My question is: Should i counter with a slightly higher offer? If so, how much higher? My dad thinks i should ask quite a bit more than they are offering, but the whole idea of salary negotiations is pretty foreign for me.
Did people in a similar situation counteroffer? How much is normal to ask for?
It just feels kind of greedy, but i hear it's pretty expected.

The Info:
No thanks to any of you, I managed to upload the iso to a tracker. I'm seeding by myself for a while on a cable connection, so I don't know how this is going to pan out, but I guess we'll find out. When you do successfully download it, you'll have to change the extension from .zip to .iso, and then it's ready to be burned.
The DVD
The dvd contains videos that were completely rendered within the quake1 engine. It includes some quake movies (Apartment Huntin', Blahbalicious, Die Fette Faust, the Team Fortress Info, and Quake Redone Quick), and a few highlight reels (Mortuality, the M3 Highlight Reel, Full Metal Armor, and a little video of quake1 physics being used on a quake3 map).
All the files came from xvid/divx files, so when played on a TV it'll be slightly noticeable that they were compressed. Some less than others. Too bad.

I've two parameters that I'm using to choose a value, a date and a class type.
I have a table full of values for these specific classtypes broken down by the relevant ranges ie. Class A - 1/1/06 - 31/12/06 - Value X. Class B - 1/1/05 - 31/12/05 - Value Y. etc.
So, if I have a spreadsheet with a class and a date, I want to look in my table of values and pull for the relevant class and (here's the tricky part) for the relevant date period what my value is, i.e. X or Y.
I was thinking an if statement with a vlookup inside it that finds the class type first and then tries to find which date grouping it's in, because Class A could have 20 different values for 20 different date groupings...
Any ideas?

Trying to organize a last minute Shackmeet at my house this saturday. It'll be primarily a lanparty. I have room for about 8 desktops, and I'll invite coworker for however many shackers don't come. Intel seems to have learned its lessons from AMD's quick embrace of x86-64-bit extensions and the Itanium debacle. It's sticking with x86 chips for the foreseeable future.
"We pretty much have x86 as the going assumption," said Intel's CTO Justin Rattner, speaking here today at an Intel Labs press event. "As we talk to our partners and customers, we get tremendous resonance around (x86)."
Intel in tandem with HP tried to move away from the x86 instruction set by creating the EPIC instruction set used in Itanium processors. Rather than mimicking Itanic, AMD moved forward with 64-bit versions of x86 chips – a decision that proved to be the better bet. Itanium server sales have been about 96 per cent below IDC's early forecasts, while AMD and now Intel have enjoyed a successful transition to the x86-64-bit market.

I've been working on the Titan Quest guide for awhile, and I'm putting together one last list of detailed crunchy queries for the devs, and I thought it would be cool to get a bit of fan input - perhaps you have a question I might miss otherwise.
So, if you've played the demo extensively, and you're a roguelike-aholic, hit me with some questions. If they're good, I'll put them on the list and pass them on. Obviously, this is a little tricky to do since you only have the demo to go on, but if you're a fan of the genre, you probably already have a list of mechanical questions in your head.
To be clear, I am NOT looking for 'when does it come out', 'what monsters are in it', 'can my video run it lol'? But rather 'how does X stack with Y', 'what is the % chance of Z event', 'When I'm using this ability with that item, how do they interact', and so on.
If you have general questions about the game, go read some of the many previews or dev diaries, or check the various fan sites. I'm looking for specific questions from people who've played the demo and are big fans of the genre (I know you D2 heads are lurking)
I've already asked plenty and written plenty about various aspects of the game, so it's likely that I've already covered many issues, but there's always the chance that I'm missing something that is of importance to players.
If you'd rather just shackmessage me, that's fine too. I'm going to ask this on various more TQ focused fan sites as well, but I know there are some fans here among the regulars, and you get some love from me too ;P
