So the World Cup is starting soon and I don't think I could be less excited. While in my teens I religiously followed the national soccer competition and watched most Champions League games as well, in addition to following all the EC/WC matches that Holland played in. The past few years I've kept up with the standings and scores, but only really watched the major tournaments. This year though my interest in the game has been at an all-time low. Just don't care anymore (it's become boring to me personally), even though our national team is pegged for a good run this year. In other news, it's early but the reviews for Pixar's Cars are good. I've loved all of Pixar's movies, but this one had me worried a bit because the trailers had been doing nothing for me. Also on FileShack

How do I downgrade Firefox? Yesterday (I think it was yesterday) I was told there was a new version and I upgraded. Now my MX-518's +/- buttons get all kinds of fucked up when i run firefox (they do their maped behavior and they also do their default behavior of fucking with the mouse's sensativity).

If I reboot and don't run firefox, all is a okay!

I need some advice...

I've got this single friend who has had no luck with the ladies, and by no luck, I mean absolutely no luck. He's into video games and PC games, but thats about it as far as "geeky" hobbies go. He gets so frustrated that he can't even get a girl that my wife tried to hook him up with some of her friends, none of those panned out either. I keep telling him that he clams up around women doing a complete change of his personality. I can't describe what exactly he does wrong except that he is completely focused on the girl, which isn't bad, but that amount of his focus seems overbearing. Plus he dresses horribly, he's the whitest of white boys but shops at K-Momo (a hip-hop store). Any advice than telling him to "just be yourself" or maybe some extreme tactics?

Am I slow to have heard this or is it a rumour or did no one post this at the shack BUT...

I'm listening to the 1up podcast and they are discussing GTA4 being oin PS3 and X360 and how it's become a "Secondary" game and no longer a primary system seller because it's no longer exclusive.

Anyhow they are discussing the game and someone from the GTA team said the "Episodic content may not even happen"

back, the fuck UP - they were even THINKING of making GTA4 episodic?
I'll put up with this wacky shit in my FPS games and small basic games but you do NOT even consider making GTA episodic - it must be all there to see right from the get go.

My CPU fan just got significantly louder in the last few days. It's a new AMD X2 3800+, so I would expect it to not fail so soon. Does the standard 3 year warranty cover this type of failure, or should I just go to the store and buy a new fan? I really don't want to get one that needs a new backplate though (like one of the Zalman fans) even though the larger ones tend to cool better.

On a side note what Socket 939 fan should I buy if I need a new one?

HL2: Ep1 is fantastic! The first hour alone is filled with "Holy Shit" moments (if you're into the HL2 universe, that is).

Once again I love that I can sit my lazy ass down at my PC, make a couple clickety-clicks, and have a fresh new game for under $20, ready to play in a few minutes.

Ok guys! I was SOOO close to grabbing a new black Macbook today w/ 2gb RAM added on, but I decided I'd come home and get the wise advice from the shack first!

What's the deal with the MacBook Pro's and the overheating or whatever I was hearing about a bit back? Too much cooling gel applied to the chip or something? some flaw in the manufacture quality? is this all solved and no longer an issue?
