As noted on the Steam website, a new update is now available upon restarting the content delivery application. The Friends list is now out of beta, a defrag option has been added and the backup utility improved, and the Source Engine's base content has been updated with assets to support newer engine features.

Built in defragging makes sense. For some reason older games that i downloaded via steam (like hl2 and CS) were terribly fragmented (some gcf's in over 1000 parts.

Defragging all the files in my steam directory did wonders for load times and skipping.

Wow- I just noticed that the .gcf for Episode 1 is 1.18GB! That's a lot of new content for a 4-6hr. add-on...

- I don't understand it either, but I doubt it has anything to do with HL1. : sharkII
- My guess is they needed to update some texture/map assets for HDR etc. in Ep.1 that are part of the base ... : mn3m0n1c
