So in her infinite wisdom last year, my wife accepts a new job without asking how much it pays.

I rag her ass about it for a couple of days and tell her that she needs to straigten that shit out because who in their right goddamned mind would take a job that pays 11,000 a year (actually it paid 9,000 per year because she started late into the school year). I don't give a shit if you do get 2 months in the summer off. 11K a year is fucking poverty pay.

Anyway, she works at this school all year long, right. Finally, she's had enough of these snot-nosed little fucks (3 days before school is out for the summer) and finally decides to get a pair and tell her boss, "Um I think my pay is messed up. I'm only bringing home $480.00 per month after insurance is taken out". And her boss was like Holy SHIT you gotta be kidding me. I've budgeted 18K for this spot, etcÃ¢Â€Â¦

So I tell Mrs. Phil, "Go in there and tell these fkrs that you want the 18K, starting immediately and you want to be backpay'd for the difference of 18K-11K for the past 9 months" and so on. And I tell her, "These guys are gonna laugh you outta the room for #1, accepting this job without asking the pay rate, #2 accepting this pay rate once you got your check AND THEN never speaking up about it." She goes in there today and yeah the guy kinda goofs on her, said it's a bit low and he may also get her some back pay.

Long story short: He increases it by a mere 1,000 per year (up to 12,000). olololol she was pissed! Now, in what can only be described as sheer brilliance on her part, she wants to quit 3 days before schools out. If she stays with the job for 3 more days, she gets 3 months (the summer) PAID. Meaning she's going to get her same lame ass salary - but it's still like free monies since she isn't working. But no, she thinks she should just quit and stick it to the man. And lose 3 months of free money. GENIUS.

Well, I met up with NeoMoose and Genjuro at the Proletariat for the MC Frontalot show around 10pm. It was a little more dead than I expected it to be. MC Frontalot being of what seems to be mostly internet fame, it was actually hard to find two shackers among a crowd of internet geeks. Surprisingly, when I received a call from NeoMoose while inside, my eyes turned to the biggest nerds in the room and none of them were holding a phone.

The first 'band' on stage were two white guy locals rapping about smoking pot. Genjuro and I cracked on them. I found the most entertaining part of this show being that their moms were bobbing their heads to the 'sick' beat in the booths. It was like a trainwreck and I could not take my perplexed eyes off of them. I think NeoMoose has a picture of that.

Next up was a local group of two black rappers and three white kids backing them up with bass, drums, and keyboard. http://www.myspace.com/thafuckingtransmissions These guys were actually pretty good, if that's your thing. I hear [fry] is somewhat of a hardass republican, and I don't think he'd have liked the show. Ah, rap people talking bad about Bush, what'll they think of next? That was only one track luckily. Overall good set.

I missed Frontalot so I'll let them fill that in. I had to take off to hang out with a friend. Oh shi. Sorry about dinner, you guys should have called me for directions to somewhere to eat. :(

Impressions: Apparently NeoMoose has jokes. I'm needling him to come to some open mic inside the loop. I know of some Monday and Tuesday, so maybe we can get him in around the time of [fry]'s bar-b-que if that's still going on. NeoMoose was pretty cool.
Genjuro. I dunno about that guy. He scares me. I think because he doesn't talk. I thought only scenester bitches had social anxiety. Cool guy overall and once he's manager somewhere I'll make him give me a job.

conclusion: neomoose funny guy. genjuro is a scenester. I am not fun without drinking.

is there a different way to do this?? I tried using Thread.Join() but using that doesn't update the form at all so updates to controls on the form are not drawn. Found a work around using Application.DoEvents(), but it seems kinda sloppy. Any better way to do this??

'Kung Fu' walks to the big screen
It looks like Caine's journeys are not quite done yet. Warner Bros.-based Legendary Pictures has picked up the rights to the TV series Kung Fu intent on turning the show into a theatrical movie.

Kung Fu followed the adventures of Caine, played by David Carradine, an American-born Shaolin monk who flees Chine for the American West. Caine traveled from place to place helping those less fortunate than himself. Kung Fu was immortalized in 1994's Pulp Fiction when Jules decides to "walk the earth... like Caine from Kung Fu." Kung Fu: The Movie should find its way into theaters next year.

'Die Hard 4' closer to reality
Star Bruce Willis was quoted in Cannes this week that things finally appear set for Die Hard 4. "We're as close as we've ever got to getting Die Hard 4 started... Hopefully it will be out next Summer."

Die Hard 4 had to be completely re-written after last year's devastating hurricane season as the plot involved an oil tanker explosion that caused large waves to flood New Orleans. No word on what the new storyline covers, but it's good to hear that John McClane is coming back.

ATTN: People who want to see what an EOTech Holographic Weapon Sight really looks like.

I took some footage of my AR-15-mounted EOTech HWS for that tactical article I've been working on the past week (now up to 16,000+ words, whee), and it actually turned out quite nicely.

If you've ever wondered why these sights are the most badass things in the world for close- to mid-range combat (0-300 yards or so), check this video out. Or if you simply want to see what real-world sights like this actually look like (versus how they're portrayed in games), or whatever.

If you have no idea what the hell an EOTech HWS is, check this out anyway.

I'm just back from a short work interruption to play Table Tennis and:

MAN its awesome. This got to be one of the most subtile games i have seen. We played roughly 5 matches and every match was so much more intense then the last one. It seems dead simple and limited at first glance but this perception falls down like a card house every time you discover something new.

OK, so I think i'll exchange my 360 today for a new one. Burnout started having trouble loading and that pissed me off.

So can I just hook up my flash card usb thingy and copy saved games onto a flash card? Some people suggested pulling the hard drive out and then try returning it or something. I imagine best buy would get pissed at that.

I'm having to take VB.NET right now. It doesn't suck as much as I wanted it to, but I'm not a fan overall. However, this class is moving way too fucking slow.

One thing that I'm curious about: when you have a populated listbox, how do you know which item a user has selected? In as much as, from what I see you can get back either the index of the selected item or the value of the item. How do you know which item matches up to the index? If the listbox is sorted, it could have any item in any spot. If you check the value, what if you have multiples with the same value?

When you add a new item, does it return the index of said newly added item?

Only visual programming I've ever done is html/js stuff (where this sort of thing was handled much better, imo)

I went to sleep last night with neosporin and bandaids on my index fingers and thumbs. My wrists also hurt as if I was actually playing ping pong (I remember having this same sorta wrist pain last time I played the real game when I was like 12). The controls in Table Tennis are really that fucking awesome.

Also, I went from losing every online match I played, to mastering the game and getting the 5 consecutive wins achievement, just because I all of a sudden hit the "zen like" state. It's like all of a sudden the powers of grayskull filled my body or something.

The single player portion of TT is the best single player sports AI I think I've ever encountered. Rather then making the single player expierience feel like a chore, each "enemy" character that you play against teaches you new tricks. In order to beat them you have to find their weakness. After beating several guys, I took my new found skills online and commenced face raping on various Xbox 360 youths.

TLDR: Table Tennis is so damn good I can't shut the fuck up about it.

I just did something terminally stupid, and it could cost me many hours of work

I opened an email attachment word doc instead of opening my local copy to edit, did a ton of work on it, saved it, closed it, then opened my local copy and had a moment of dawning horror

Where the fuck did that file go?

If I open an attachment and do save as from word, it shows me documents and settings\<your username>\local settings\temporary internet files\Content.IE5\random letters

But I can't get to that folder! I've enabled show system and show hidden files, I've tried searching for the files there, and I've tried placing a new file there (via the word save as menu) and searching for THAT file that I just created there, and windows won't let me see the directory in explorer

I don't see the file that I mistakenly saved in that directory, but I need to go rooting around in those folders and see if it got saved somewhere

Got me Fsion Frenzy last night cause I promised the wife's kid that I would pick it up if I saw it used at EBGames. And I did (paid 7.99 CND for it). The only thing I wish this game had is Live support. How much fun would it be to play this against you freaks? A ton I'de wager.

Other than that I gotta say great game. Challenging, pretty and sounds great.
