Just one more Firefly disc to go, oh noes. Movie: Telecommunications Security and Privacy Act. Invasion of privacy is more like it.

  • Rockstar Table Tennis impressions:

Its cheap, easy, and fun to play. The graphics are top-notch, with smooth animations that rarely seem mechanical. The variation between players is quite pronounced.
I didn't get much play on multiplayer, but want to soon. I think you can talk to eachother, but I was the only one talking. I'd like to get a shack tournament going this evening so we can all suck together.
If you get a good "rally" going and the ball just keeps going back and forth, the game puts you in "the zone". During this time the lights are dimmed in the arena except for a ring of light around the table. You find yourself locked into an epic struggle to steal the point. When you're in "the zone" the entire surround-mode shifts to be more hollow and echoed, enforcing the tunnel-vision feeling. The crowd is respectfully hushed, so all you hear is the struggle of both players as they feverishly try to keep returning the ball.

The 5.1 surround is put to very good use and is what I was most impressed by. I really feel like I'm in that arena. When the lights are on, the audience is very believable and they react most accurately. At the appropriate times, they'll cheer for a favorite player or just shout something. The audience never comes from everywhere at once, but seems to be made up of various elements that come together as a whole. I'll hear someone cough from behind my left shoulder, and someone in front of me might let out a "woot" and when it all comes together I feel like those guys bought tickets to see me play. The players have dialogue, too, specific to their country of origin. Luc had a lot to say and my wife happily translated his dusgust to me. Frogs are bad losers. Sound was one area where this game really shines, because it delivers a very immersive experience, which makes the game more fun to play.

Thats about it. Its a good game to have, and its quite challenging as well.
