I have want to capture the time right before a job runs and store it in a variable of some sort (trying to use enviroment variables now) and then compare that time to right after the job finishes.
I have two batch files, one pre.bat the other is post.bat that run before and after a backup job. The pre.bat sets a time environment variable, however once that script finishes and the command prompt closes, the value does not hold.
Any way to store something like this and have it stay after the batch file closes?

Fucking me over with the DS light, not so great.
Im not a person to just go out and buy a game or system without reading about it first. But I trusted Nintendo and figured what the hell my SP is the best handheld I have ever had.
So I get the DS and there are only 3 maybe 4 tittles I could even think about playing on launch. The sims ( I don't even like these games), maybe that racing game, the Mario game and somethign else, god I try to forget. So about a month goes by, lets check how many new tittles worth playing are out not. Not a damn one. Few more months pass, well I could play Sim City, maybe that port could bring a little fun...No, blew ass.
How many DS games are out now that are playable? A handfull, and only because Nintendo pretty much pulled the plug on the cube and is getting most of its income from DS until the Wii comes out...
So now my DS that wasn't worth buying when I got it, gets even worse; a prettier, better DS is coming out. Thanks for nothing Nintendo.

"Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?" Peter Moore, a Microsoft vice president, said in an interview. "People are going to buy two (machines.) They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii ... for the price of one PS3."

so I've played a few ranked games... and except for the last dude that fought really well... everyone else just relied on haymakers. They basically throw 10 or so haymakers per round. Its so damn annoying timing it right and beating them down getting their health down and into that slow-mo mode and then just one little mistake and they catch you with this lucky ass haymaker and BOOM you're in the slow-mo mode. WTF is up with that? Its stupid. So far I've always been able to block shots or hug them and then come back and beat them down.
Another gripe... people that just sit there... waiting and waiting and waiting for you to throw something so they can try to parry and counter. Its called BOXING, not WAITING.
ok, enough bitching. UNO was fun though!

I am slowly finding sites that have various fixes around the stuttering issue alot of you are reporting:
The main fix seems to be adjusting your PCI Latency, you can find the program to do that:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951
You will need to change it from
"32 from its default of 64"

BioWare really wants you to be able to "verbally spar" with NPCs... quickly selecting short one liners that represent how you think... which turns into more interesting dialog once you select. For example, the NPC might explain how you need to be careful and seconds before they finish, a short wheel of internal thoughts gives you options like - "whatever... I don't care" or.. "get to the point"... or "I should be careful". What you select then tells your character how to respond in appropriate dialog. "get to the point" might actually come out in audio as, "Stop stalling. I know you have the information I'm looking for."

I think that's a great idea. It makes it easier and quicker to select the type of response you want (without having to scroll through and read multiple options of three lines of dialog), and means you don't select it, and then sit through your character again saying it. Sure you could skip it previously but it made it much more cinematic and immersive when you watched the scene play out, and now you have more incentive to do so.

I would have paid $19.99 just for that dream scene. When do we get a gary's mod for sin? I have some fantasies I need to work out....

Here's them shitting on SiN: Episodes
http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=67230
Some of their complaints are valid, etc. but man, it's just sorta comical to see them all acting like seven year olds that just learned how to cuss. And they really hope episodic gaming is some fad that will die, so they can go back to bitching about normal-length games. Oh and they all claim to have finished the episode in 3 hours.
No wonder I quit going there in favor of the Shack

I heard that he should just get into movies cause the story / pre-rendered stuff is the main good stuff from MGS games (I've never played them) - a shame his 14 minute e3 movie didn't (appear) to contain any ingame footage.

This site seems to say the final Specs on the Nintendo Wii are a bit better than earlier info?! Of course take this with a grain of salt as I haven't seen this info anywhere else.

The Red Steel sword fighting seems to be getting mixed reviews. It's not as perfectly intuitive as many (me) were hoping, but I did see some videos of people who had figured the system out and it looked cool on and off screen. I think it's something that will naturally be improved the more diffferent people attack the problem. Here's hoping Lucas Arts adds their imput to the bag.

According to sheriff's deputies, Wilkins had threatened the ex-girlfriend, then threw the bottle bomb at her car as she drove into her yard in Rougemont, about 30 miles north of Raleigh. Witnesses said the bomb exploded in "a large fireball," and then rolled back toward Wilkins, igniting his shorts.

Even the base PS3 doesn't have it now, neither does XB360 with the HD-DVD add-on, and it's unlikely any movie publishers will lock themselves out of that market, so it'll most likely never be used.
One wonders what the point is then of having those HDMI outputs on new graphics cards. I guess it cuts out needing the seperate 5.1 sound cables, which should be really handy on things like notebooks.
