So Chris, Steve and I are all chilling in Los Angeles now, waiting for the E3 fun to get started. Unfortunately for me I screwed and brought the wrong cable that goes into my laptop's power brick, so 10 minutes ago I ran out of battery power. Hopefully a store around here carries what I need. Pretty dumb to not check that it was the right cable, but hey it happens :(

    So I took the hard drive and the Plextor 8x CD-R drive from my Sun Ultra 2 and put them in the recently acquired (can't say new, not by a longshot) Ultra 60. I was curious whether I could boot the disk in the new system.

    Typing go resulted in a kernel panic. Considering that the Ultra 2 has UPA/SBUS and the Ultra 60 has UPA/PCI, that's probably a big fat "no". Oh well, I'll be able to test out the CD-ROM drive now. :-P

    I realize past performance is not indicative of future returns, but my rankings on the previous battle in the console wars would go like: Xbox > GC > PS2

    Xbox wins mostly due to live. Play the Tom Clancy games with my friends over live was a great experience. The Star Wars single (and battlefront) were fun.

    I’m a sucker for 1st party Nintendo games. And RE4 was kick ass.

    PS2 some were ok, but I don’t like the successful football game or EA games in general (not due to their management practices, but just because they don’t make many games I like to play). I personally did not get a killer app out of the PS2, Guitar Heroes is close.

    So, take a snap shot of the E3 videos and what MS is doing with the 360. I really like Elder Scrolls and GRAW, but that is pretty much it. Got my 360 on launch day, so that issue did not affect me, but lack of games has.

    I like what I’ve seen of the Wii games, and the new controller idea is pretty cool. I don’t know about changing the paradigm of home console input. They seem to have done well with the DS’s new input.

    PS3 so far, not very impressed other then the controller mod and the rear view mirror to a PSP. I think blue-tooth will loose to HD-DVD also.

    Wii > 360 > PS3, based on pure speculation.

    I had a dream last night that QuakeCon was going to be held at the Augusta Speedway (dont ask me how or why I came up with this location, it seems totally random to me as well). iD decided they wanted to have a huge outdoor LAN. Only problem was, there were only about 300 hotel rooms available - if you didnt get a hotel room you were going to have to camp on the track. Somehow I found out about this before anyone, and I was furiously trying to post this info to the Shack so we'd have rooms. Then I changed my mind, b/c camping without a shower for 3 days is normal for quakecon anyway.

    so yeah. I think my subconscious really wants to know when/where quakecon is going to be this year. Vegas, baby, Vegas!

    anyone see anything wrong with this system? Trying to keep it as quiet as i can, hence the 2 zalman fans and the abit board with the passive cooling. I know the HD will be semi-loud but that's a small price to pay.
