Oblivions rule system & balance was all over the place
NWN had the most awesomely detailed rules/balance & an unbelievable amount of character options... my only qualm with NWN1 was the poor choice of camera angles... but they nailed that aspect of the engine with Knights of the old republic...

Oblivion was mostly an audio/visual experience imo
cos character choices are inconsequential in the end....
once you get a few of the uber +skill items or access to lvl 100 restoration spellmaking... all characters are the same...

DnD games have always been a bit more intellectual, due to the massive amount of character options (which actually make a difference) from the start... playing off your strenghts & avoiding your weaknesses...

Its people like some of you guys who drive up the cost of gaming for people like me. Don't you realize game developers read forums like these and get the mistaken impression that all we want out of our games nowdays are photo-realistic graphics? And given the opinions some of you are spewing its hard to blame them...

Please learn that not every PC game has to be at the cutting edge of technology. There IS a market for games like NWN which never really appealed to the eye but made up for it in droves in gameplay. While I enjoy a pretty game just as much as the next boob, I want certain games I play to achieve a bit more than 20 frames/sec without having to shell out a few hundred bucks in hardware. The screenshot does not make the game.

People comparing this to Oblivian need to remember one thing, this has mulitplayer. Something Oblivian doesn't have. Plus you can make your own mini-MMORPG. Which is what is am going to do.

Oblivion is only good for solo combat, this is a game where you control a full party. Oblivion can't never archieve that so remember that.
