It's the publisher whom has determined that if we use DVDs we'll lose too large a share of the market. I tend to disagree with this, but they seem to have the figures to back it up.

I can not understand why some games are still distributed on CDs. Aldifood sold 5 years ago already PCs equipped with DVD-players.

As for an ETA? "All four versions of Prey will be released simultaneously this July".

The game will ship on July 10th, to be more specific. Oh wait, wrong site :)

Is this for USA only? I skimmed the page and didn't see anything definite (may have missed it). The stores involved are all US-based but some (Amazon.com at least) will export to here (UK). Not sure if any of the ones which do the figurines will export; then again I have enough little objects sitting on shelves making my flat look cluttered so maybe less is more in my case.

Metal packaging hm? Sounds like a winner to me.
I still consider the Q3A tin box to be one of the best boxes ever produced. At least it's one of my favorite. Not only was it metal (which to me was unheard of at the time) but it was also great looking: the red logo over the grey raw metal, and the embossed circuitry stuff while it might sound cheesy looked great.
Boxes can be so awfull.. Especially these days; DVD cases.. ugh.. 8(
