Upon first loading the game, you're hit with the initial impression that it's waaaay less pretty than the Xbox360 version.

Despite this initial response, I bucked up, and played through the demo, and I'm surprised to say, that it's actually pretty nifty.

The tactical map is back, and it's actually quite useful. As squad leader, you can hang back, and issue chained commands per the map interface. Just like the earlier iterations of the R6 series, you can issue these commands simultaneously, or stagger them. The best part about the issued commands (and perhaps even my favourite game feature), is that you can use the cross-com (the g key) and watch through the soldier's cam as he follows the commands. The shaky-cam running is a bit over the top, but the clearing and zone covering actions are spot-on.

So, I guess I'll be getting this game, despite the visuals (oh, they aren't that bad if you force 1600x1200 and "high" character models through the renderer_settings.xml file.

Man, Fileshack is getting hammered. I jumped in queue with an estimated wait time of 1 minute... ended up jumping to 4 and back to 1 and back to 3... finally got to download after 12 minutes.

Now it's going at a solid 35k/s. Damn. Guess I'll look for a link elsewhere :(

Fucking games dont even take advantage of dual core yet and this whore comes into my house, kicks my dog, slaps my nutbag and installs PhysX drivers without even giving me an option? Then I have to uninstall it so it doesnt system tray itself every time i start up my machine? Fucking turd polishing bastards.

The game is ok but controlling my zombie soldier squad feels too awkward to do it quickly and effectively Leaving most of the work up to me. Does anyone else find that the follow command actually just calls them to your current position and makes them hold?

ung. Squad Ai is utterly nonexistant. I was shooting at some guys and I see a freggin APC strolling down at me with 2 guys shooting out fo the top. One of my guys is behind a free and just stands there shooting at someone else as th APC gets to like 2 feet away and the people in it blow him away. They were shooting at him the whole time and he didn't move an inch to find cover. Enemies can't seem to shoot for shit at close range but at long range they blow you away. Wtf is with that.

Runs smoothly enough, despite HDR overkill, jaggy heaven, and something up with the PoV (I swear everything looks way too up-close, like they've taken the 360 version and cut the sides off from Widescreen).

Gameplay is okay, squad AI seems quite bad. Hope someone does a tactical shooter clone sometime soon; Ubisoft haven't really had a good one since Raven Shield.

Plays alright on my 9800 Pro. I don't like the movement of my guy though. I like realistic shooters and stuff, but the guy, specifically the mouse movement seems kinda 'wonky'. Kinda hard to aim. I guess I'll have to try and get used to it.
