So What's Next?

by Steve Gibson, Jan 25, 2000 5:20pm PST

Well, seeing as how it's slowed down for the evening it's about time to toss another discussion topic out there right? Here's the question of the day, what do you guys think the next big 'evolutionary step' is for multiplayer gaming? I realize it's a pretty broad question but what the hell. Along with the whole photorealistic graphics thing I'm thinking the next big step is communication between players. It's pretty archaic in general right now to be sure.

    gaming on ESPN

Well, maybe not ESPN. But gaming as a spectator sport is just about here. You\'re
gonna have real sponsorship and stuff and major coverage. Not to mention the
    betting pools, heh...

Which will be fun to see the reaction of the anti-violence freaks to gib-TV. So, for
    the sake of PR...

I saw on ESPN a few months ago - get this: A Magic: The Gathering tournament
There was play by play commentary too! It was completly retarded! WTF IS THIS?
they can have 10 yr olds playing cards but no cool huge multiplayer game lan-tournaments?
its bull. I almost broke my tv when i saw this shit.
