Late Night Consoling
by Chris Remo, Mar 30, 2006 8:00pm PSTThe news is pretty sparse today after yesterday's Nintendo news explosion. Them's the breaks, I guess!
- Gamasutra got the chance to sit down with Pandemic CEO Josh Resnick and, briefly, BioWare joint CEOs Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, now working together as BioWare/Pandemic Studios. Among other topics, Resnick shared his thoughts on Nintendo's upcoming console Revolution. When asked if his studio is currently developing any products for the system, Resnick gave a standard diplomatic response, stating that he is "enthralled" with all three next-gen platforms and has not announced specific plans. Gamasutra asked if Revolution will have difficulties adapting to multiplatform development, to which he answered, "I agree that it's going to challenge the notion of just doing a port. I don't think it's going to be as easy to take a product from one console to the Revolution, and so I think we are going to be looking to see how we can tailor our products to that platform. But we do that also with other platforms as well, it's just that the Revolution may challenge us even more." That's fairly expected, but Resnick had other comments as well. "The Revolution is a very different platform," he said, "and we've actually just seen some things behind closed doors that are just mind-blowing. Very very exciting. They're doing something that's very different and unique." Considering the controller has been public knowledge for months, with certain members of the press having received hands on demos, it's safe to assume Resnick is referring to some other as yet unmentioned functionality. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has hinted that there are still surprises left in store to be unveiled at E3, but it's a bit more convincing to hear from a third party source that these suprises will in fact be interesting.
Pandemic Hints at Additional Rev Functionality?
[nintendo] - 1UP has some potential good news for Xbox 360-owning Bomberman fans. It seems that developer Hudson is considering bringing its classic multiplayer franchise to Xbox Live Arcade. While no plans have yet been made, the possibility of Arcade-izing the Sega Saturn version of Bomberman is currently "under evaluation." If you haven't seen the ridiculous Bomberman: Act Zero that's heading to Xbox 360 through traditional retail channels, just trust me, you want to see this Live Arcade thing happen.
Bomberman to Go Live?
[xbox360] - Majesco has followed up on the recent offer by shareholders Trinad, who proposed to buy two million shares in the company (Nasdaq: COOL) at $1.50/share, as well as appoint three board members. Trinad made a similar proposal last year. Unsurprisingly, Majesco refused again, issuing a terse letter to Trinad which accused the investment group of trying to control the company without actually buying a controlling share or giving suitable compensation to shareholders. Majesco's Laurence Aronson and Louis Lipschitz, who drafted the letter, claimed that the company has enough capital to continue in the forseeable future, having reorganized the corporate focus to handheld and value games. It is unknown what action Trinad will take in response. Majesco's stock last traded at $1.31, up $.02 from closing.

[ds] [psp] [gba] - A multiplayer demo of the 360 version of Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter has hit Xbox Live Marketplace. It features the level Boneyard for up to 16 players.

[xbox360] - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN) interview with director Eiji Aonuma linked last night seems to be broken, but fortunately Shacker inarius found a complete mirror. Thanks!

Would be nice to have the shell thingy packaged in. I'd love that.

All jokes aside, it does. Can I buy a shell controller so it doesn't look like crap? =D

Well, actually I guess I just don't know what to make of it from those screen shots. It doesn't really look like the show. The turntables as life meter thing seems... a bit strange. The character models are kinda primitive. The screens show some surreal weirdness with badguy ninjas turning into pink blobs before they die or something.
Obviously I'll have to wait until its out to pass judgement but those screens aren't keeping my hopes up.
