by Maarten Goldstein, Mar 24, 2006 5:31am PSTSo guess what I bought..yup, I gave in to the Oblivion hype. And you know what, 4.5 hours in I'm glad I did. Morrowind failed to grab me in any sort of (though I didn't give it a lot of time before making up my mind), but I'm enjoying the hell out of Oblivion. Even strayed from the main quest already, doing some random other quests. Playing it on the 360, as sitting on the couch with a wireless controller and a big screen TV to look at is just that much nicer than playing it on the PC. Plus I doubt I will ever check any mods so I didn't really need the PC version for that. I'm playing and liking an RPG..it's just weird! Also on FileShack

3DMARK03 Score = 25,935
Had a 5,530 score on the old system.
My 3DMark06 score for my old system was 965. I still need to download 3DMark06 on this system before I can find out the new score.

Assumptions/Expections/Costs aside, I'm wondering which one is really provides a better experience, or if they are the same. Does the XB360 version have full Anti-Aliasing applied (does this work in the PC version or is it disabled because of the HDR?)?
If you were feeding the same HDTV running at 1300x768 or whatever, would you be driving it with an XB360 or PC? What would be the PC equivalent to get it upto the default XB360 standard?
All comments on this welcome, I'm sure a lot would really like to know this!

How is Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War?
We're playing Warcraft 3 for the first time tonight for both of us so that should be fun, but I think he's more inclined to play the army type games and was wondering what folks though about DoW in comparison to say Generals or ZH.

Recently it was announced that the PS3 will use HDMI 1.3, which will use an expansion of the audio channels and offer Dolby TrueHD as well as DTS-HD. Current TVs generally use HDMI 1.1, which do not support these extensions and create significant audio noise when connected to a HDMI 1.3 device.

But it certainly highlighted that Sony has still work to do - not only to finalize the AACS spec, but also to accelerate the availability to HDMI 1.3 and to educate customers that they only can run HD video and audio if they have a HDMI 1.3 capable TV.
I didn't know this. I thought people were pissed because they didn't have HDMI inputs in the first place? This article means that people who do have it might still be SOL.

xbox 360 does 720p and 1080i. Though 1080i is a higher resolution, its interlaced so it doesnt look as good in motion, generally, right? Also just because a TV "does" 720p, doesnt mean that it does it natively. If I want the best quality for 360, I want something that does 720p native? I think some TVs do 1080i native, and they scale up their 720p? That would be what I *dont* want, right?

mainly, i just im, irc and play guild wars. but occassionaly i use zbrush and modo.
there's no reason for me to switch to linux i know, but i just feel like i'm wasting all this power.
