19

Activision let us know that the long awaited update for the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 2 is now available. The multiplayer update offers "significant enhancements, including improved multiplayer performance, the ability to reserve friend slots in private game lobbies, post-game lobbies so friends can play longer, configurable host options and more". A PC patch is coming as well, which will include Punkbuster support and two additional multiplayer maps: Rhine, and Harbor (converted from the original Call of Duty).

so much for MS' dictum that the HD would never ever ever be used for patches, eh? :)

Shut yo' mouf. These are all online fixes, and those have existed since flaws and exploits Unreal Championship, a first generation Live game. Games still work out of the box, and that's what matters. They are not shipped broken with promises about whole features and additional content coming via online download later.

Any online game programmer worth his salt will tell you that you there are going to be problems that won't be discovered until the product is in the hands of a few million people.

at least someone makes some sense in here... mp is a whole different ballgame, as long as the sp is stable and there is a process to follow to fix the bugs that are bound to pop up in mp, i don't see the bfd.

I think you guys are being too kind by just waving your hands and saying "it's really hard to do!"
It doesn't mean they didn't totally drop the ball where others got it right from the get-go (see: Halo 2). Remember these aren't quibbling issues we're talking about here, they caused a revolt amongst their user base for chrissakes.

yup and it's much better off for it. i have no problem with mp fixes for issues that arise once hundreds of thousands of people start playing the games every day.

That's not the point, the point is that the game was playable on xbox live from the beginning and all the features of match-making worked impeccably.
It was never broken. None of the players ever organized a strike.
If you can't see the difference and rather want to keep apologizing for CoD2 that's your prerogative, but you're wasting your breath.
