192 must be better, no doubt, so it's an audiophile PC soundcard for me after I upgrade away from my soundstorm mobo.

You mean it's not? I never use EAX in games anymore, cause it just sounds like massively overused reverb to me.
EAX to me is like... bump mapping in Doom 3. So overapplied and overused that there's no subtlety to it, unlike the bump mapping in Source, which is applied with such a light touch that lots of people don't even know that HL2 even has bump mapping in it.
