I beat GRAW on normal and had a blast, heard about these cheats and decided to dick around with them in Hard mode, i dont care what you think about cheating but running around shooting infinite m203s is quite fun after going through the campaign looking around every corner and playing slow and careful. Now its a whole new game, kinda like the Outfit lol, but i do like the game without cheats better, more stressful.

I found this really, really neat. This guy has catalogued every book of Morrowind included helpful mousehovers that explains the texts. He has also written a huge walkthrough of the game and recorded all the dialogue:

Screw you guys for getting me hooked on BattleStar Galactica. I've now watched seasons 1 and 2.0 in about 4 or 5 days. Holy crap this is good. I do have some complaints about it though. I want to bitch slap a quarter of the people on the ship because they act retarded. I need the 2.5 DVD's to come out soon, otherwise I'm not going to be able to fulfill my fix.

PC troubleshooting.

I have a computer that is losing video right after the POST and nothing happens. There seems to be hard disk activity although i'm not sure. However when I go to work on it, it will magically start booting again just fine, and it won't happen for maybe another week. Any ideas?

When you pre-order a game at gogamer.com do you get a confirmation email? Or do they wait until the game is in to bill you and send an email? I pre-ordered Oblivion on Friday but never got any confirmation. Should I contact them?

Guitar Playing Menz!

So, I'm getting between $600 and $700 back on tax returns and I think I've decided on a new guitar as my reward for getting ripped off by the government. Right now I'm thinking about this one:

On another forum, we were talking about the good old days of dos. The debate turned to how expensive everything is now compared to then. Maybe people are remembering their $1000 Packard Bell they bought at Sears. I was building back then and remember everything was more expensive back then. Decent fast videocards were easily $400 back in the day as well. Sure you could get a cheap Paradise VGA card for $125 but if you wanted to run windows 3.1 in 640x480 with 16,000 colors at any speed that wasn't watching pain dry or a few games that supported the mythical 640x480 256 colors, you had to shell out serious cash.

I built a system from scratch back in the 90-91 time frame. There was no new egg, no price watch, no computer store you could walk into. It was just luck, usenet, and the tree killing Computer Shopper. From memory the prices I paid:
Motherboard: $500
486 dx 33 $600
16 megs of ram: $400
Video card: $399
Sound Blaster pro: $220
Case: $200
CD rom: $600 (That was not a typo. $600 fucking dollars for a cd rom drive)
120 meg hard drive: $300

I reused everything else from my 386sx 16 I bought from Insight computers.

24 hour Wal-Mart to save the day! Picked up Battle for Middle Earth 2. And after clearing a snowy mountain pass filled with goblins, then traveling to the Blue mountains to slay a dragon, and finally coming back to defend the Grey Havens from an attack, I can safely say I totally dig this game.

Here's some easy homework for you to help me with :-p

The question: What is a hypermedium?".

The text up to this point covered mostly hypertext and hyperlinks. There's one segment though that goes like this: "Hypertext systems, that intigrate continues media next to discrete media, are called hympermedial systems or hypermedia."

That's it, no other info on the subject. What is dicrete media and what is continues media, and how are the two differeantiated? I could just copy and paste that piece of text and call it quits, but that doesn't really help me to understand the question or the answer.

MS OS-using Menz

I have a remote user who is attempting to install MS LiveMeeting on his laptop. He has a regular non-privileged user account. He is havcing difficulty, but is (of course) completely unable to express exactly what the problem is. All I can get out of him is "I can't download, it won't let me".

From what I can gather, he has some sort of email with a link in it. My guess is this link leads to some sort of ActiveX/plugin installer that's refusing to install because he's a regular user and not an Admin on the machine.

I've been poking around MS' LiveMeeting site looking for an app I can have him download/install as the Admin on the machine, but damned if I can find it.

If I can somehow get this guy to get the email link into a browser while logged in as Administrator, will it install such that he can use it from his "normal" user account? He isn't remotely proficient enough to trust him with Admin rights on the machine for normal use - he'd be infected within an hour - and he's not going to take "you need to shunt the link over to the Admin user everytime you want to use this" as an answer.

(If you can't tell, I've never used LiveMeeting, so forgive me if this sounds horribly clueless)
