I got slightly excited by this, then fired up my server browser and found a grand total of two (2) people playing in Australia on a Saturday afternoon... On different servers =(

There are 20 people playing RA3. I played a shitload back in the day and have fired it up recently here and there after 1-2 years off. Still fun.

I don't think a full RA4 release with a final patch will even change things much. I remember when q4 first came out there were only a handful of players here and now it's unfortunately closer to NIL.

Hopefully quake wars is great and builds a nice little community. It's a lot tougher here with the smaller population and all the dingo's eating our bandwidth

If Quake 4 crashes when you run the shortcut you made (from the instructions in the readme):

Make sure that " +set fs_game arena" is the first thing after "*:\Quake 4\Quake4.exe" in your 'target' line, and that there is a space between the " and +set fs...

how high-end should my hardware be to run Quake4 at around 24-30 FPS? I'm using a 2 year old computer, AMD athlon with 1.5Ghz (give or take) CPU, GeForce series video card. Is Quake4 worth the 50 bucks if I'm to be running it under these specs?

I'd upgrade if I thought I could afford the credit debt, but I'm shooting for having zero credit debt in about 2 years. currently unemployed too
