Offset Engine Licensed

Offset Software has announced that their Offset Engine is being licensed by Red 5 Studios, a studio founded by ex-Blizzard staffers working on an MMORPG. The unreleased Offset Engine is also being used by Offset Software's own fantasy shooter title Project Offset (working title).

Jesus christ. This looks fantastic. I'm not big on the whole fantasy setting, etc, but the technology looks just incredible.

This is awesome. I've followed their progress for awhile now. It's no surprise at all that a mainstream studio has chosen this engine for a development platform. I can't wait to see the games come out that are built using Offset.

I tried to invest in Offset many months ago... unfortunately, this was not an option.

Beautiful demos, obviously very talented programmers and artists (that might be programmer, although i think they added a second), however I'm extremely skeptical about them fleshing this out into a full engine to can be successfully used in a game. There's a big difference between beautiful demos and a full industrial strength engine and even if they can do it, can they do it before it looks mediocre compared to everything else out there?.

It makes me really happy to see that these guys are getting the success they deserve. It's a real underdog story and it just pleases me to no end to hear people mention their tech in the same breath as id and Epic.
