On S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s Release

Fan site Oblivion-Lost.com has a letter from GSC Game World's Oleg Yavorsky, responding to a question about the recently announced delay until 2007. According to Yavorsky the game is in beta, but THQ wants additional testing and fixing and its up to them when they deem it fit for release. Thanks Blues News.

I'm looking forward to this and I don't want it to be rushed out, but I question how a game can be at the beta stage -- where everything is pretty much done and just needs testing and tweaking -- when it's been delayed until next year. This year only just started.

How can something, that isn't made by Mirabilis (ICQ Inc.) or Google, be in beta for a year?

Sounds like they had a shakeup in management if they're finally getting a dedicated producer to handle this thing.

Seriously, I'm glad they're not shoving it out of the door. Plenty of games with lots of promise have come out dead in the water because they weren't developed enought.

I can wait. For me the game was going to deliver immersion in a cool setting. The graphics and FPS gameplay are almost secondary to being able to explore the environment. Oh man what the hell kind of gamer am I turning into...
