Star Wars: Empire at War GONE GOLD

17

Word from LucasArts is that Star Wars: Empire at War has reached gold status, and is off to manufacturing. Petroglyph's real-time strategy game will ship to stores February 16. We have a singleplayer demo up at FileShack.

Star Wars: Empire at War puts the power to command an entire war for the Star Wars galaxy at your fingertips, with battles focused on action-packed combat rather than tedious resource gathering. Set a few years before the events of Episode IV A New Hope, LucasArts' new PC game lets players wage war on ground and in space, as well as experience the creation of the Rebel Alliance, the strengthening of the Empire and the beginnings of the Galactic Civil War.

I didn't really enjoy it. For some reason it didn't do it for me. The galactic turn-based portion wasn't overwhelming for a RTS player but it also wasn't much fun (imho). The RTS portion felt simplistic and rather limited to me. To each his own, I suppose.

      It is Rebellion done right.

That was my take on it. It didn't feel like a solid RTS so much as a really good version of Rebellion.

I liked it but it's difficult to tell for sure, the demo showed the start of a good game, as long as there is more to it then just the demo then I think it will be good.

Although I must admit it probably doesn't quite live up to the hype when first saw some of the videos.

Should be awesome, if there's a lot more content than was in the demo. Pretty sure I'll be buying this after playing the demo.

I like the simplified, dumbed down overall strategic stuff. The RTS stuff is very simple and straightforward like most C&C games. But, I think the strategic stuff will bring that part of it up a notch.

It was ok. Seemed like something was missing. I can't put my finger on it though.

I liked it. I don’t think I’ll play much in the way of MP, but the campaign and turn-based elements were interesting enough to keep me playing. If you haven’t tried the demo yet, that’s really the best thing you can do to help make a decision.

I just hope Fry’s has it on sale for a price close to 30 bucks. I don’t pay full price for many games anymore, but Oblivion will be the next exception.

the demo was too short for me to really tell. It seems cool, but the demo needs more.

I have Civ 4 and AoE3 .... I am not sure I would play this game much considering I have these other two games to play.

i think this game has potentital. the demo was pretty short, so it left me wanting more which is a good thing. I felt the ground RTS was simple, but it had some intresting aspects of those control points. It was a little difficult for me since in the demo I got whomped by the AT-AT..and..then I learned Chewie could jack vehicles.

The Space battles seem really awesome though, but it's no Homeworld 2.
