First Post!
by Maarten Goldstein, Feb 01, 2006 6:23am PSTBeen having quite a bit of fun with Trackmania Nations, Starforce or not. I've always enjoyed the Trackmania series, especially Sunrise; or at least, I enjoyed the demos.. it never felt like the sort of game I would buy. Just not enough there for me I guess. But a free game like this, with a ton of crazy tracks, can't really go wrong there. Also on FileShack

ATTN: Katamari-folk!
Hi guys! It's been a while! I've been doing some translation practice for fun lately, and I've brought something to share with you all!
This time, prepare yourself to embark on a kite-flying odyssey with Mr. Keita Takahashi!
I know, this may sound a little perplexing. You may be asking yourself, "Kites? What's that got to do with Katamari Damashii??" To me, however, this little tale of perseverance and of the birth and the realization of a dream is as true to the spirit of Takahashi's work as any piece of writing could be. Do note that it is, at its heart, a kite-making manual, so don't go in expecting a laugh a minute. Just let the magic sink in.
If you still need more convincing, see if this streaming video doesn't do the trick! mms://wm2.streaming.ne.jp/namco/takoage_4.wmv
(NOTE: If you were already convinced, don't watch this video! It'll be better for you to see it within the context of the actual page!)
If that doesn't do it for you, then, well, I admit that this tale might not appeal to everyone.
Okay, well, enjoy!

This is dedicated to haiku! Happy birthday and happy your-car-will-be-okay day! Special thanks to my brother for hosting!

Sean Penn Demands To Know What Asshole Took SeanPenn@ gmail.com
LOS ANGELES—In an impassioned 1,900-word open letter published in Monday's Washington Post, actor-director Sean Penn urged the unknown person who registered the e-mail address SeanPenn@gmail.com to "come forward immediately, rather than wallowing in the shame and ignominy of fraud."

I must re-pimp this amazing mod; it adds 800 megs of high-resolution textures to the game and MAKES THE WEAPONS MUCH MORE SATISFYING AND FUN TO USE (yes, the machine gun isn't a ridiculous pea shooter now).
HL2 is now pretty much perfect now. The screenies they have on the site aren't that impressive and don't do it justice; the world has much richer tones and feels even more immersive because you don't get that dithery look up close. This blows away the Substance mod which I tried to replay HL2 through with and got bored with because I found the changes to be really amateurish and tedious.

http://www.fileplanet.com/160218/160000/fileinfo/FakeFactory's-Cinematic-Mod-v2.20
FAKEFACTORY & OGG Cinematic Mod for Half Life 2 V2.20
What is this:
- The Cinematic Modification adds Hires-Textures to all human characters, some non-human characters, nearly all items, walls and vehicles (and the vending mashine of course). (Hint: If you prefer the original Low-Res Textures, delete or rename the "materials" folder inside the Mod.)
- It replaces the original HL2 music with a more classic score in the style of large Hollywood productions, that fits to the specific game-situations. More orchestral, more ambient, with unique themes for combines and Alyx. (Hint: If you prefer the original HL2-music score, delete or rename the "sound" folder and the "scripts" folder inside the Mod.)
- It adds a new weapons-balancing and strengthens all the weapons to a more realistic level. No more firing numerous rounds at the combines; kill them with 3 to 5 direct hits, just like in real-life combat, but beware: Your opponents weapons are comparable. After 3 to 5 direct hits (or 1 direct headshot) you *will* be killed. (Hint: If you prefer the original Weapons balancing, delete the file "skill.cfg" inside the Mod's cfg-folder)
- The additional Insane Hires Props are previous unreleased Hirestextures for nearly all props in the game, even little items like binders, computerparts, doorlocks and so on. The huge amount of details will give your HL2 virtually the look of a render-intro, but be warned: The amount of new textures will tax your hardware to the limit. Better don't use this pack with outdated DirectX8 cards. Don't even think about it, unless you are using a 256+ MB card.

That's funny, pathetic, and really sad all at the same time. I HATED that bug. I would get a great game going against some AI in skirmish and eventually the game would suddenly start to chug horribly. If I could manage to save it, sometimes after rebooting I could load the save and it would be fine. Unless I played long enough for that problem to rear its head again.
Never did quite figure out what caused it, but there were always threads about it on the C&C:G forums.

I got to Gameworks and found Mr.SEX chatting with the lovely hostess. Apparently they'd had two kids together or something a while ago. Chod was also hanging around but he hadn't slept with anyone there so he was waiting patiently for Mr.SEX to wring some free gaming cards out of the girl.
Deathlove rolled in about five minutes later and we figured four was enough to get started, despite there being thirty or so Chicago-area shackers, plus melancoholicz, whom this event was originally planned in honor of. A good thing we didn't wait long, either, because no one else showed up. or at least, they didn't wait three hours for us to come back to the front lobby and check.
We sat down to have some food and immediately started talking about pornography and gross-out images like g---se or t--girl. At that point the waitress came up and we realized how hungry we all were. After making sure the waitress knew he'd had sex at least twice, Deathlove ordered some monstrosity of a hamburger that earned him a free gaming card if he finished the whole thing.
With nothing much useful to talk about, we turned back to discussions of pornography and notorious shackers until the food showed up. Deathlove did indeed clean his plate, but the joke was on him because some guy came buy and slipped Mr.SEX some cards good for two hours of unlimited gaming. I guess he'd had a couple of kids with that guy, too.
Armed with the cards, we played everything from puckless air hockey to buttSkyPirates to Guitar Freaks (not nearly as much fun as Guitar Hero) to Dance Dance Revolution. No doubt there are some embarassing pictures and videos soon to come. We finished with some epic 4-player MarioKart, and we had to keep playing until everyone else slowed down to let me win, because I wouldn't stop whining otherwise.
Good times!

A twinked toon is a person who maxes out at say lvl 19 or lvl 29 and buys the best gear and enchants for that level. A lvl 19 rogue just demolished my lvl 30 mage in 2 hits. I think these enchants (crusader, fiery weapon) should have a level requirement.

Using the text below as a guideline, create a text file where /var/www/html/private/ is the absolute path of the directory where you would like to store your authentication usernames/passwords and My Private Directory is the name you would like for the authentication window.
what am i supposed to put for the part where it says /var/www/html/private/ ?
is that path supposed to be somewhere on the upload server for my site? or am i supposed to make that path?
here is the tutorial i am using just to see what i am talking about http://www.sitedeveloper.ws/tutorials/htaccess.htm

loved the hardware. loved the iTunes music store too. so, my issues:
+ apple's music store does not have a subscription service. i'd like to be able to download metadata on 2million tracks and be able to listen to whatever the fuck. downloading a meagre amount of files believing i "own" them is old school now. and don't talk about "other methods", that route doesn't have the clarity or capability or quickness of finding new music in the same way a subscription service has.
+ i'd like to be able to transfer music to a variety of devices, not just ipods. to buy music that can only be played on a particular device is outragous. windows media is DRM'D, but at least I can choose from a range of players or play it back on PDAs/Cellphones. come on apple.
ANYWAY, recommend a shuffle replacement pls!

You hear the radio operator call out an alert for you while you're on the highway.
You make a couple high speed passes back and forth until you see your radar detector alert you that there's a cop ahead.
You pass that cop going at least 180mph (not sure exact speed necessary).
You get tagged with all three speed-related infractions at once.

To make up for this, I went out and found a bunch of games that are coming out.
I'll try to be better about posting this regularily. really. for reals. I mean it.
