On EverQuest 2 Server Mergers
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 30, 2006 4:34pm PSTThe EverQuest 2 website has been updated with a new producer's letter, announcing plans to close several game servers. SOE's Scott Hartsman explains that "Because of the size of our game world, some of the worlds feel less full than they should for them be ideal, fun places to play". Starting February 2 people will be able to use the Character Transfer Service free of charge, with ten servers shutting down February 6 and February 17.

Solo players and small groups have much more to do in EQ2 (even solo players can even do instances now) and get good loot. The level process is much more even, no way you could max out levels in a week in EQ2. And there is a TON to see and do, you can level two different characters and do totally different quests.
Sounds like I work for SOE now. I probably wouldn't be "sticking up" for EQ2 if it wasn't dismissed so totally by almost everyone at shack.

I know so many people who play WoW and aren't even hardcore gamers. Even people who aren't normally familiar with the latest and greatest games are starting to take notice of WoW.

"Because of the size of our game world..."
See how that works, the game world is too big and awesome, not the player base is too small and shitty.
