by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 28, 2006 11:09am PSTOh hey its 1pm already. Time flies when you're trying to beat all the story modes in Dead or Alive 4. Picked up the game yesterday and though at times I get pretty frustrated with it (I came incredibly close to throwing my controller on the ground a few times, which I hever never done before), I spent about 7 hours with it now so I'm pretty sure I like it. It helps that you are rewarded with a very goofy or charming CG movie after each character completion. Yesterday I felt the AI was losing games instead of me winning them, but now I feel I'm doing ok. Now to try my luck online... Also on FileShack

Q. Why not just let casual players get rewards comparable to those from raids?
A. It would be almost impossible for us to do, and this is a philosophical decision. We need to put a structure in place for players where they feel that if they do more difficult encounters, they'll get rewarded for it. As soon as we give more equal rewards across the board, for a lot of players it will diminish the accomplishment of killing something like Nefarian. My favorite times in the development cycle are when there are encounters that are close to being defeated but have not yet been beaten. It really creates a sense of awe among the players that there is something big and truly dangerous in the world. But it would be very disappointing if the items found on Nefarian were the same thing you could get in your nightly Stratholme run. [Stratholme is a much easier five-person dungeon.]
In otherwords, "Fuck you" to the players who dont want to raid, that's just the way it's going to be. Yea, no thanks.

the sony though, will have windows media center 2005 and i can finally stream cool stuff over to my 360, plus i can play counter strike or any cool game while im at school waiting for school to start.
they both have built in webcams... i guess that would be usefull if i was a camgirl but who knows.

I'm not sure if it's the Nintendo DS or portable handhelds in general (with their small screens and what not) but I get serious eye strain after 2+ hours with the DS.
I get a red spot in the sclera (the white part in your eye that surrounds the pupil/iris) after some extended play. That can't be good. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?
I do not, however, have any pain in my eye whatsoever. I don't realize I have the red spot unless I look into the mirror. The spot itself seems to be created by thin, red "veins." It's always in the same spot on my right eye.
It would really suck if I had to stop playing the DS after buying it, and with all the good games out.

So I had my mobo die a last Saturday night. I ordered a replacement, came in 3 or 4 days later. I installed it only to have some other "new" problems, it was randomly hard booting. So I deduced that perhaps my psu perhaps caused the original issue with my first motherboard. Bought a new case, which came with a new psu...I installed my mobo and everything into it. Powered it up only to recieve a series of long beeps and no POST. SO, I found a post on a message board that talked about these same kind of beeps, he said replacing his RAM fixed it. I got some new RAM today (retail...payed WAY too much) installed it and low and behond, long beeps and no post. At this point, I think maybe the replacement motherboard was just bad to begin with. I'm so fucking fed up with messing with this, Im on the verge of just ordering a new Dell. I hate this shit.

That whole sequence with Apollo's ex girlfriend, were they hinting at her getting an abortion? It's one of the things that makes sense, for his reaction at the end when he shot Faelen/Phalen/Falen/whatever. It seemed much more visceral then a simple breakup/fear of commitment type deal.
I'm mostly interested if Moore talked about that.

Anyone have any suggestions for a nice lunch place? I usually never go out to eat for lunch unless it's just a quick meal for a couple bucks. I'm looking for somewhere where you can sit down and have a nice meal and conversation. Not really looking to go across the bay to SF, though. Anyway kind of a long shot question but I think there are a few East Bay menz up ins.

It's odd to me that WoW, a game which finally embraced the casual player and brought many of us into the world of MMOs, feels it is okay to flip casuals the bird once they hit 60. Like many casuals, I've found that I have little interest in being cannon fodder for some decked out uber player. The worst feeling in the game is knowing that you out played another player, but in the end his gear handed him the win.
When someone makes a MMO with non instanced, world influencing endgame PvP involving skill and teamwork (but not time and superior gear) then let me know and I'll be there.

My boss' laptop (Toshiba Satellite P35-S609) was left out while it was snowing and the proper "zomg it's whet procedures(tm)" were not followed afterwards. Needless to say, a small part of the motherboard got rusted pretty badly and it no longer works. However, the memory in it was still good (woohoo)! Now I'm wondering if the chip (a P4-M 538) is useful to me or not (he gave me the laptop).
Right now I've got a Dell C640 that has a P4-M 1.8ghz chip in it. The memory from the Toshiba laptop worked fine in it (PC2700 vs PC2100) and I know the Dell has the right socket for the new chip (mPGA478M). The C640 was sold in configurations up to 2.2ghz. However, I'm concerned that the Dell's FSB, voltages, etc won't work with the 538 from the Toshiba.
So the question is: AM I RITE? Or should I go ahead and spend the time to replace the existing chip?
