As part of their third quarter revenue report, Ubisoft today announced that Splinter Cell: Double Agent has been delayed. Originally scheduled for a spring release, the game has been pushed back until September.

The rescheduling to September 2006 of the launch of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent is meant to release the title on all platforms simultaneously, including the Microsoft Xbox 360 that should have a much larger installed base by that time. This will also enable to maintain the highest quality for which Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is recognized. This rescheduling will ensure the best return from the coming release as well as from future sequels of this brand over time.

  • Well, if this means the game won't disappoint, I don't care, in fact, I'm happy. The first 3 were all modern classics in my book and I am really looking forward to Double Agent. But for them to assume the Xbox360 user base will significantly increase by Fall is a bit outrageous, as there are very, very few high profile games on the horizon for the system. I wouldn't count on the sole fact that more systems will be available, because with no Halo, Xbox360 doesn't have much going for it software-wise besides Gears of War, Oblivion, and maybe Crackdown in October.
