Hopefully we'll be throwing a bit more horsepower at things in the coming weeks as we've been getting a few too many slow page loads lately. Time to look in to that dual core fad!

To try GW PVP this weekend for free. Install GW and make an account with the free test key. The client is like 50kb, so it's pretty fun seeing it install an entire game from the internet. Then come back here and post your impressions of the PVP tutorial. It's supposed to be newb-friendly, but I'm still very critical of it. GW is a hard game to play and master. If you make a crappy character, you will die. So it's up to each player to figure out how to not suck. Hopefully the tutorial helps out a bit, but learning still takes legwork.
When you start a new PVP character you'll find yourself chatting it up with some smart PVP NPCs. You'll learn the basics, probably die a lot, and hopefully come out of it with a positive opinion of the game.
If you're curious, you unlock new skills on your account by winning in PVP then using "faction" points at a priest to buy goodies. Or by playing PVE, which you don't have access to during this free preview.
Oh one fun thing for people who are already playing. I just learned something about Team Arenas. I thought you needed a team of 4 to play, but all you have to do is click enter mission with any number of teammates, and you'll be automatically assigned to a group totaling 4 people. How long have I been playing this darn game, and I didn't know that!!! Fun stuff!!!!!
Pro Tip: Unlock Temple Strike and Twisting Fangs for assassin. Combined they put down some real big hurt.

The other day I was preparing a pair of suclent sirloin steaks for my wife and myself. I know how to prepare a steak - sear it in the burner quickly then pop it into a blazing oven, pan and all, to lock the juices in the supple flesh. Perhaps it was the joint I'd smoked beforehand, or perhaps it was simply faulty culinary equipment, but I burned my most prized finger, my mouse finger. Within hours the wound swelled to a mighty bugle, a kind of translucent nose has grown from the smooth surface of my fingertip and with every click it threatens to explode, with every y, h g, n, and u typed it tenses - but doesn't break! It won't! Five days and still it only grows larger, what was once two distinct bulges has formed into one, it shifts beneath my caloused skin like tectonic plates.
Now my better judgement is muddled with cheap supermarket wine and I'm considering doing something drastic..
To a pop it and risk a Counterstrike crippling wound or let it run it's own course and continue threatening a oozy conclusion in my sleep or e-mail correspondences.
I'll stop now.

We all know the next gen DVD formats are gonna be cracked within days of their release. No need to copy the movie from a set-top player. Just put it in your PC and make a backup, basically like current DVD copy protection. Linkage to article below.

Well I'm incredibly amazingly sporadic with cleaning (either hospital grade spotless http://members.iinet.net.au/~scottylans/pics/room/now04.jpg (trust me those benches have been wiped with dis-infectant 5 times over) or absoloutely filthy grub city http://members.iinet.net.au/~scottylans/pics/room/its%20REALLY%20time%20to%20clean(again).jpg )
Anyhow, I've tried many remedies from using powders, being clean all the time (no really for months on end), using the sticky traps, using the bait traps, using the bug bombs - the works.
However due to my.... well erratic cleaning schedule the roaches dominate - but one thing I should've damn well tried is AIRING OUT my kitchen.
I was on holiday and I left my kitchen in a fairly bad mess, but I left every cupboard open and every window in my apartment.
I've returned to an immensly dwindled qty of roaches, despite it not being clean.
Combine this with it being summer and dry, the poor little bastards are dying out.
The final straw though is this thing my girl picked up for me, it's a moisture absorber for under my sink due to a leaky bench it leaks a tiny bit.

I never even knew these suckers existed!, it's basically a big ole tub of silica gel, same as what you find in shoe boxes or hard disk static bags.
It "collects" water and roaches NEED water (I read this but had no idea how to solve that)
TLDR: Moisture absorbers fucking rock, roaches suck, my girl rocks.

Okay, movie first. It was a decent movie, I'd say the same par as the first. They get into more backstory in this movie though. Good action, explosions, commandos in black, helicopters, vampires, boobs, werewolves...boobs.
Unfortunately, they are not Kate's boobs, but they are there. Go see this movie, just to see Kate...a lot of Kate. Especially a lot of Kate in skin tight leather.

I have been in the market for a new display for a while now but I have been wary about LCD technology because of the slow response time. Anyways, I am ready to make the jump but now I have an additional problem:
The standard 16:9 widescreen resolution supported by most video cards is 1920x1080 (1080p), yet all the widescreen displays I have looked at are at a native resolution of 1920x1200.
What’s the deal here? Am I missing something insanely obvious or what? Is there a display with a native resolution at 1920x1080?

a lot of people jumped down my throat there to push their own agenda.
What the quote was communicated was, 'its probably a good idea not to rush out and buy one NOW'. Doesn't mean never. Just now would be wasting your money since you get a slower experience when using it, why not just wait when more stuff is recompiled and you'll get it for cheaper/better hardware in 6-12 months.

Do you get "Warning: Unresponsive Script" when loading the shack, or any other page?

Go to "about:config" in your address bar, find "dom.max_script_run_time", and increase its default value to something larger (I changed the 5 to 15). Problem solved!

Hello Shackers! I have a css style setup for some text. It's the right size in IE, but smaller in Firefox (with the browser text size set to "normal").

Is there a good page somewhere that outlines css differences between browers, or can you tell me what's missing from the above style that will make all broswers consistent, in terms of text size?
