Damn, Wednesday already. Well I guess I'll slap up some whackity-ass linkage up later today. btw, if you use a headline grabber and want RDF format, you can get the shack headlines from http://3dshack.com/shack_headlines.rdf Something I'm working on figuring out is names for all the 'user levels' that people will have with the upcoming comments system I want to have on the page. I'm hoping to have about 10 so called 'levels' or recognizable titles for people just because that stuff is fun. These would be determined by # of postings made, and/or possibly the fabled 'karma' system. So what do you guys think? Got 10 user level names? Stuff like peon, regular, veteran, ass-kickin-mofo etc.

  • Bickety Bonk... I think that next to each post should be links that will improve or worsen someones karma. Next to this post, for example, are a ++ symbol, a + symbol, a - symbol and a -- symbol.

If you like the post, you click on the single or double plus-sign. If you do not like the post (if i am being a moron) you can click on the minus or double minus.

Over time, people will get total ratings, and the better your rating is, the cooler privelages you get.

Eg. the text background is brighter for people who are cool, and they have brighter, larger text. The people who always spam and act like dorks get darker smaller text boxes. People who get really bad karma cannot do anything like use special BBS tags or post pictures.

GOod karma people could insert UBB pictures into their posts, and maybe can do other HTML (but not javascript or inserting thigns that affect the whole page).

People should be able to customize their \'shack, so that only posts made by people with >50 karma are shown... or maybe all things are shown (including nuked messages).

Each message would have to get it\'s own karma as well, which is added onto the karma of the person who posted. If a message gets less than -10 karma, it automatically goes into the \"nuked category\". Nuked posts, remember, can still be viewed if you want to see them.

And, last of all, the messageboard shouldn\'t just make posts that you have opted not to see \"dissapear\". Those nuked/low karma posts should be listed at the top of the page, under the page number list... so that people can choose to view those posts without having to change their user preferences twice.
