Rainbow Six: Lockdown Demo

It's time to get personal as Ubisoft sends along the Rainbow Six: Lockdown demo. The 520mb demo includes a singleplayer and a multiplayer level, and also has 17 of the retail game's 42 weapons, along with all equipment and grenades.

I dislike the demo, however I see a potential in this game. If they fix it, this could be enjoyable. I was really never into the single player of the Rainbow Series, I always bought the games for multiplayer only, but this demo, I find myself playing rather sp as mp, becasue mp degenerated into run & gun.

For fans of the RS series this isn't RS. They should remove the "run" option or decrease the run speed, and the game would feel totaly different imo. Aside of that, there's lots of stuff missing from the previous games, but this could be argued about.

The biggest problem I see right now, is the run & gun fest that we'll see in mp if it's not fixed/removed, and I'm really not into such games, if they're not named Quake or Unreal.

With all of the graphics options up it looks decent, the AI tends to run and gun on you if you though and the hostages were instruction impaired. I thought it was a decent demo though, hopefully the NPC's don't just bolt on you as much in the full version.

well i've played it for a few hours (the mp mostly), and it's got potential.. but I have my doubts about Red Storm / UbiSoft listening to the community and fixing things.

R6 and RS were awesome, RVS was pretty awesome but you could tell the series was leading away from the original, this one is even further from the original R6 idea and feel.

Well, in the past year plus of making fun of cornrows, things that are personal, whack-a-mole looking gameplay, etc... I've installed it, and will give it a shot. I'm going in with as open mind as possible, but I'm also going in expecting a continuation of what has made the Rainbow series great for the past 7 or 8 years.

I hate to say that I'm feeling negative about any game without even trying it, but that's just how it goes, I guess. I like Ubi, but I think they've badly wounded both the Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six series - two of my favorites.

I guess... this time it's personal. What can I say. Perhaps I'll try it out in the future, but everything I've seen thus far about the game just turns me off. I hope I'm proven wrong.

The screenshots linked at the top are from the PS2/Xbox version of Lockdown they are not screen shots from the PC version of the game. The PC version doesn't have "goggles" and the "cornrows" are hidden under helmets.

Maarten should probably either remove the link to those pics or replace them with actual PC screen shots.

Well somthing i dont understand or maybe i do .. is why they make your goggles crack when your hit... thats so test drive 1!

I also saw the interview for the game designers and they had some really bad ideas.. I dont think they game will be that bad but maybe it could have been better.

Christ that PS2 shot looks terrible. The graphics look like shit and the player is standing in a room full of fuckers firing guns at him. Has the series been dumbed down that much or is it just the console games?
