Rise & Fall: Civilizations At War Update
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 12, 2006 6:31am PSTLast November we reported that Stainless Steel Studios was shutting down, as it had run out of funds. A week later publisher Midway announced that the strategy game Rise & Fall: Civilizations At War was still in development, but at a new company. Today Midway announced that its San Diego studio is finishing up the game which is sort of surprising as it had been assumed Midway San Diego had shut down. Civilizations at War is now scheduled for a June release.

1) The "Compute Advanced Lightmap" button is located in the scenario editor. Please use it!
2) The "U" key hides the UI in-game. Great for screen shots!
3) If you're going to show FOW, zoom in to see the volumetric effect. Otherwise, turn on full visibility so you can... see everything!
3) Composition is very important to screen shots. Try to capture exciting, interesting views of the game.
3) Turn up all graphics settings when taking screen shots. The game looks even better with normal maps, per-pixel specular, and other nifty effects!
Sigh. It's like my new born baby was ripped from my hands. By a retarded orangutan.

Something tells me Midway just didn't want to pay any royalties to Stainless after the release. So they canned them all and switched to a developer they wouldn't have to pay royalties to. Dirty, dirty, dirty I tell you.
I may be wrong on this, but I disapprove.
